They met at college in Orange County, Ca. Look them up on the internet. They were the best of the best. Bobby Hatfield died in 2003, at the age of 63, shortly before a performance. No one could sing like Bobby. Bill is still performing at 80 yrs young. Love them both.

The Everly Brothers were probably the best brothers group. Their voices were similar but their harmonization was perfect. But the Righteous Brothers were opposites....Bill the bass/baritone and Bobby the tenor were perfect together. To me, they were and are unmatched.

Aww, I love how you guys react by swaying. I felt the same way when I heard this song too. They helped Epitomize Blue Eyed Soul in the 1960's that was a phrase coined by a Philly DJ. This was their next Song written by The Husband Wife Team of Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil after "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". They got their start singing at Navy Bases in San Francisco, CA., and the Sailors who were predominately Black in the 1960's would clap and say "That's Righteous Brothers!" and the name stuck. The show they are on is "Hullaballoo" a popular Rock & Roll Show from the 1960's. However Phil Spector didn't produce this Track, someone else did. The Tall Guy is Bill Medley The Blond is Bobby Hatfield. Other Blue Eyed Soul Singers was Len Barry (123), but check out the Brits, Scots, & Irish. They are amazing. Bobby Hatfield is the high voice and who sang "Unchained Melody" which was featured in the movie "Ghost" with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze, and Whoopie Goldberg. The movie "Top Gun" with Tom Cruise and Kelly McGinness featured their son "You lost That Loving Feeling". Bill Medley is the low "butter voice" and the boys got their name from a person in the crowd at one of their concerts who said their voices "sounded righteous" so they kept the name!

Back in my SockHop days of the early to mid-60's, the last song played at the Hop was always a Righteous Brother's song. Immediately, every girl in the building would frantically start grabbing guys to slow dance with....I, for one, always obliged. For the thousandth time, thank you, Bill and Bobby..........On another note: The producer for most Righteous Brother's music was the legendary Phil Spector. In fact, in the "You've lost that loving feeling" video, one of Spector's young, just getting started, protégées named CHER (Yep, that Cher) was one of the background singers.

Good reaction by both of you. One of the things that made the music back then very popular was that the lyrics were targeted at women's hearts. Voice, lyrics, and melody really hit the target when guys were trying to impress their ladies with these kinds of songs.

They were in a band previously a 5 guy band and decided to stick together after breaking up...and got there name when an African American service member yelled out after a show ..thats Righteous brothers...and it stuck...

If you like them, you should try Jeff Healey, Angel Eyes. That is his iconic song. And also try Louis Armstrong, What a Wonderful World, his live performance from 1967. Jeff Healey was a blind guitarist and singer who appeared in the movie Road House with Patrick Swayze. He had eye cancer as a baby but he was so good playing his guitar. Louis Armstrong was a Jazz musician and singer from somewhere around the 1920's until he died. He was one of the greatest trumpet players in the history of Jazz and was completely self taught.

The two's last major hit together was "Rock and Roll Heaven" Decent song. It hit Number 3. (It was the first single they released after reuniting after having been broken up for like 6 years). Time of My Life was only performed by Bob Medley as a solo effort. (Though it hit Number 1)

I'm not sure but I think this is one of their hits and for the most part at the first part of those three famous songs I think this is one of the three famous songs the arranger for that was Phil Spector his code for his arranging music was called the wall of sound that's his trademark for all the rock and roll hits that he did in the late '50s the 60s and the early seventies.

As a 66 year old I paid little attention to performers like the Righteous Brothers, Bobby Darin, The Everlys, Frankie Avalon, Frankie Valli, and all the crooners of an earlier era (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby) who were still performing. These love songs were a dime a dozen, and we were all now into the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the Dave Clark Five, etc. Thanks to this generation and these reaction videos I am now gaining an appreciation of how good they were. Seeing that they are from my hometown of Orange Co. California I will tell you about the birth of the "Righteous Brothers". In the mid 60s they were a couple guys trying to make it playing local gigs in a small no name band. Then one night a bunch of black soldiers from the local Marine Corp base "El Toro" attended on leave. They were blown away by the vocals of the duo and afterwards the Marines went up to them and said you Brothers are "righteous" (slang for what now is poppin). From that night forward they always had a big following of black Marines coming from and going to Vietnam. The no.1 thing to do on base was to go see those "righteous brothers" sing. As a show of appreciation they changed their name to THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS and got a record deal, and you would think that the rest would be history! But not so...It was a different time and although they are credited with being the godfathers of BLUE EYED SOUL...America wasn't with it!!! They hated white guys singing like black guys and they were struck with a back lash and were not a popular band! As fate would have it though 10 years later they were rediscovered after they had song after song placed in the top movies of the 80s. TOP GUN...DIRTY DANCING...AND GHOST just to name a few. All of their songs were re-released and they became a big time phenomenon! Their song YOU LOST THAT LOVE AND FEELING became the no.1 song by air play on radio and tv for the entire 20th century!!!

I don’t know about California but it wasn’t till the 80’s and the movies, because they were huge in NYC and I’m sure here in the rest of the Northeast. their songs were always on the radio, nd everyone was buying the 45’s and albums, so maybe it’s in that part of the country.

@@nkcbrazil unfortunately, contrary to New yorkers belief there's 3, ooo miles between NY and Call and AMERICA wasn't going for it! They didn't attain big time sucess until the 80s with the re-release of their catalog! I've known about their journey since high school as they were local phenoms! Their legend is passed down through high schools. Obviously they had a career but it didn't blow up in MID-AMERICA until the placement of their songs in popular movies.

Then in 1990 came the movie "Ghost," and Bobby's "Unchained Melody" became a chart topper for the second time, 25 years later, the first time that has ever happened. "Lovin' Feeling" was the most played song in the 20th century, with way over 8 million plays on radio, and it is still being played. The righteous Brothers were never matched by any group. Bobby is gone, miss him so much, Bill is still singing at the age of 80, God bless you, Bill.

I listened to an interview with Bill Medley from a few years back where he talked about their history. He and Bobby Hatfield knew each other in school and they would talk to each other on the phone at night while they were both listening to James Brown on the radio. They both were in a five member band called the Paramours then went separate ways for awhile, but eventually came back together. While they were performing for an audience of mostly black soldiers one soldier yelled out "that's righteous, brothers!" and the rest was musical history - EXTRAORDINARY, INCOMPARABLE MUSICAL HISTORY! Bobby died in 2003 in his hotel room just before a concert. Bill Medley and their manager found Bobby who had died of a drug overdose. It was a personal tragedy for Bill Medley, a devastating tragedy for his family, a tragedy for his fans, and a tragedy for popular music. He's buried in Anaheim California, his home town. I live in L.A., which is close by, and, because of the resurgence of Righteous Brothers music on KZbin, I'm actually thinking about visiting his grave when (if!) COVID subsides. Rest in peace, beautiful Bobby.
