Very impressive story of The Saga of Miyamoto Musashi Ep 2 Musashi gets Captured by a Monk.

So I translate Heian period folktales and put them up here on KZbin and the tradition of monks being exceptionally skilled and capable is one that has been going on for over a thousand years. A lot of times they even have supernatural abilities. I'm not surprised at all that one shows up in Musashi's story.

From what I’ve heard and read mushasi already went to war, at 18ish or something then after weeks or months or whatever musashi then was captured by the monk so mushasi already had a small grasp of war

One could argue against the usage of the term "Hubris", while it's meaning might apply here, it is a term founded in greek literature, and not in Japanese's (as far as I know). Just offering a new perspective.

The word "hubris" entered into the English language. It can be used when speaking English to describe excessive pride
