Thanks again for your dedication. I really like that you also talk a lot about emulation. Back in the day I thought real hardware or fpga is the only way and the right path to retro video games. Emulated games on a pc just didn’t feel the same in the past. Now, I think the input lag problem has been largely resolved. Graphically you can even make the games look better than the original. It’s important to be open minded.

Some model 2 games got ported to the PS3 and 360 which can usually be emulated with RPCS3 and Xenia. In the case of Daytona USA it runs at 1080p in widescreen with increased draw distance.
@VideoGameEsoterica9 күн бұрын
True but when you want that original look this is always good
@locked018 күн бұрын
Actually, that is the way I like to play it. Without taking anything away from Model2 or MAME or even Dreamcast emulation, but thr PS3 version of Daytona, especially on a wheel is really awesome.

It's been a long time since I used this emulator, but I remember that you can eliminate the judder caused by the emulator running at (an accurate) 57.5hz by using an older version (0.9?) and changing a line in the config. You can also fix the washed out look in Daytona by changing an option in the test menu ('Twin?'). Sorry I can't remember exactly.

Or you can use a VRR monitor too these days

Model 2 emulator runs it at the native framerate of 59hz ... I have not found a way to force it at 60hz so it doesn't stutter. Luckily my screen supports 59hz so I just change it to 59hz in a bat file and run the games
