Outrun is in my top 10 greatest games of all time. I still remember the first time I played it. The game stuck with me so I was excited when they released an arcade perfect version for the Saturn. I still listen to the soundtrack often to this day.

The authors of this channel constantly push out amazing content! The production quality is off the charts! with writing and narration to match! The research involved is also immaculate. It seems each video takes roughly 4 months to develop but I much rather prefer this level of quality and research instead of the rushed weekly videos that other channels chase to try to match the algorithm. It's just so nice to see a video that isn't filled with inaccurate research, lack of sources, grammatical errors, and more. Keep it up, your content is absolutely top tier!

Completely agree. Produce great videos at their own pace rather than chase a deadline, (which gamers know destroys good games) and that makes me look forward to new videos than it does on other channels that churn them out where I pick and choose what I watch.

I love the use of Virtua Cop music in this video, haha. Great stuff as always! OutRun in particular is one of my all-time favs. I remember seeing the motorized cabinet of it and Hang-On in arcades and was always impressed by how immersive they made the games feel. I'd love to try a real moving cabinet again.

Outrun is my favorite arcade driving game. It's perfect in every way, and was super avant-garde. Yu Suzuki and the SEGA team did some amazing wizardry to pull this one off. Salute. I remember playing Outrun and Hang On as a kid, maybe as an 8 year old, at Chuck E Cheese- those games were 'better' than the other arcade games from the time. And the fact you got to ride on a life size racing motorcycle was pretty mind blowing. And who could forget the full size Afterburner? Those games had 'staying' power as well, as some arcades kept them around well into the early part of the final stage Arcade renovation/refurbishment era from the early 90s which deleted the 'look' of the 70s and 80s arcades for a cleaner, "family fun" center look. Thanks for the outstanding historical recap and video!

Wow...this was absolutely incredible Splash Wave. I remember the very first time I saw Space Harrier in the arcades...I was absolutely mesmerized (1987, I think). I remember wanting so badly to have that experience on my Master System or Nes... When the Sega Genesis launched in 1989 with Space Harrier II...I knew I had to have it. I got my Genesis in 1989 with Altered Beast, Ghouls n' Ghosts, and Space Harrier II. While Space Harrier for the Genesis didn't quite reach the arcade version it was decent for the year. At least it made me good enough to beat Space Harrier in the arcades with 2 credits. Great content!

Being born in the late 80's in a country without a lot of arcades I always felt like a missed out on the arcade phenomena of the 80's and 90's, like Hang On and Space Harrier. But I remember the first time I played Shenmue on the Dreamcast I was really exited to get a chance to play them at least in a simulated version of those japanese arcades I had read so much about. It was a cool experiance. Love the video as always, fantastic work!
