It's cool how it came with the optional MPEG card. Not quite a launch model, the HST-3210 removed the circular cutouts in the front left corner of the shell in the HST-3200 where a cooling fan was once intended to be.

Such a beautiful console. 😍 i love my japanese model 1. Though, it really needs retrobrite
@otherretro9 ай бұрын
Maybe just a tiny bit, but I think the lighting I had used in this video makes it look worse than it is.
@gamesystemaddict39499 ай бұрын
@otherretro oh no, not yours! My apologies, I meant my console does! I'm nervous about doing it because last time i took it apart, I broke one of the light post's a bit.
@otherretro9 ай бұрын
@@gamesystemaddict3949 My mistake. I thought the led light posts were a bit of a pain to line up correctly.

amazing score for 7 bucks did VF came with it? also is it true that after a while retrobrited parts start re-yellowing again
@otherretro4 ай бұрын
The game was 100¥. The plastics will eventually become yellow again. The controllers and consoles I have retrobrighted haven’t yellowed again yet.

El modelo japonés es compatible con cartuchos

Como chama essa peça que você colocou perto da bateria de gravação do horário
@otherretro7 ай бұрын
The metal piece is the Sega Video CD card or Movie Card and the black plastic piece is just the holder for it above the battery. I hope that’s what you were asking about.

My cable was really stuck! It probably took 20 seconds of wiggling it back and forth to get it loose.

Yes, the original switch breaks easily. I made another video on how to replace the switch, if it breaks. Sega Saturn Power Switch Replacement kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3Syh3SKlrOsqq8

Hello 👋🏽 I have questions regarding the model 1 Japanese. Would be great if anyone can help. Would appreciate it. When I put in a game it takes a little while to boot up and when it doe, it freezes. It does this with all my games.

I would suggest first cleaning the laser lens with 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab. If it still has problems then you might have to replace the capacitors in the disc drive board or adjust the multiple potentiometers for the laser. www.retrosix.wiki/laser-tuning-sega-saturn

How does the sticker not warp and peel when its being soaked in water? Jw
@otherretro10 ай бұрын
Most of the console’s stickers are a heavy duty vinyl without any paper. Game cartridge stickers are different and can be damaged by soaking in water.

My sega saturn powe button is jammed and is difficult to pull back up. What's should I do??
@otherretro Жыл бұрын
You’re going to have to open up your Saturn and check if the button has become misaligned or if the switch has been damaged. If the switch is damaged you need a replacement SDL1P-A (250V 4A/32A) switch and a cs222m capacitor (2200pF AC250V) and solder them to the PSU wires.

@@otherretro do you have anything I can contact you on?
@otherretro Жыл бұрын
@@zeno3577 For now the KZbin comments section is the best way to contact me as I haven’t created a dedicated email for my KZbin channel. If you aren’t able to find the parts you can find used power switches on eBay. I will be making a video on how to do this fix on a Sega Saturn in the next week or so.

I just posted the power switch replacement video for you. Enjoy!

Clean and Fix? RLLY? You can't touch the board and the shields without gloves, this cause oxidation (rust). A console that old need a full recap, the electrolytic capacitor (e-cap) has a lifespan of around 10 years (maybe 12 depending on the quality of the components). You need to replace the e-caps with low ESR types (not regular ones). PS: You also need to grease the gears!
@otherretro Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips. While I disagree with not touching the board and shields without gloves. I do agree with a recap of the PSU. There wasn’t any visible problems with the caps so I left them alone for now. I plan to do a full recap soon. Also, gears were greased off camera with silicone spray.

@@otherretro "While I disagree with not touching the board and shields without gloves." Manipulate a blank copper clad PCB with bare hands and leave for a few hours, it cause oxidation (type of corrosion), give enough time it will rust and lose his conductivity properties, something you don't want in a electronic PCB. We have tons of sebaceous glands in the skin of our hands that produces sebum, sebum is a mixture of fatty acids, sugars, wax esters, squalene, triglycerides, etc, etc; components that helps accelerate copper oxidation. Understanding the basics on how to prevent this to happen, we don't manipulate copper or any other metals close to the PCB with our bare hands to avoid cross contamination, etc. So, you can't disagree on facts.

this console is so over engineered it's not even funny.
