It just didnt capture the Shinobi spirit for me. Also it gets increasingly hard and frustrating. Its not a bad game just not a good one. It also didnt really show of the Saturns capabilities.

GeoDelGonzo I don´t know about negative feedbacks... but for my personal taste this game is not my taste, doesn´t top the Game Gear Shinobi 1 title from 1991. I mean surely the graphics are fine for 1995 but gameplay seems to be very boring. I have seen much Shinobi Titles but no title hits the Game Gear version in my opinion.

One of my most beloved games in the Sega Saturn. Probably the best shinobi I've ever played. So much better music than Shinobi Legions! That final stage was a real pain! They just don't make them like that any more. 16:04 EPIC MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing!!! It has all the elements a classic needs to have. One of the best fusions of a 2D game built with cutscenes, screenshots, musical background and engaging story. Really memorable... Unfortunately for me only featured now by this post but it made it count anyway... Really good!!!

This game owns. I enjoyed the hell out of it back in the 90's,was one of the reasons to own a Saturn. But I could never make it past stage 6. But then again in those days I never played on the easy settings because I always wanted more of a crazy challenge, thats why i never made it too far in the game. Now that we all have the internet there's cheats around to add more lives and level selects. I'm close to beating it right now,on stage 8. But I try not to use cheats. I do use a few,depends on the level though,such as stage select. I can't sit infront of the tv and play this for more than a few hours before my eyes and brain start to get burned out. LOL. Part of getting older I guess. So the level select cheat is so good to have,you can return later,insert that cheat,and just resume at the stage where you left off. Or sometimes using the cheat to add more lives in the game. Because it sucks to finally make it to the end level boss and have next to no lives left to learn his pattern and defeat him. And if you lose all ives when fighting a boss its back to doing the whole stage over,which is fine. But the last 4 stages in this game are really fucking insane at times with difficulty and I don't have that youthful gamer in me i use. Such a great game though,the music,the cool digital stages and characters remind me of that period so much when it all the crazy to have that Mortal Kombat digital graphical style in games. Oh and those cheesy cut scenes,I love that shit. LOL. Maybe it took itself a little too seriously when it first released but nowdays this shit is classic homage to a lost era. With the cinematics inbetween those hard as nails stages its nice to be able to sit back and take a break watching them for a good laugh. Fun to watch and sure as hell is fun to play. Saturn lives on forever baby. Miss the old Sega so much.

A very nice looking side scroller game for sure. The music is top notch as well, just like the other Shinobi games. I've never played this one but it still looks nice even today. I bet it looked extremely sharp back in 95 on the old CRT monitors.

This game is a snapshot in time, at an era in which we were going through a transition and people didn't know what was the future. The FMV games wanted to be the future, but failed, and digitized characters were neat but being slowly replaced by polygon characters. It was an exciting era. This is a fantastic game, by the way. Cheesy, sure, but that makes it all the more charming.

Alot of people are quite rightly saying that Shinobi 3 on Megadrive/Genesis was a masterpiece, but don't forget Revenge of Shinobi on the same system. Not quite as polished as Shinobi 3, but still an amazing game, that I think is just as good as 3.

Love the soundtrack! The platforming can be frustrating with the timed double jump, but I enjoyed the visual presentation. It's not a great game but if you like Ninja platformer/action games than this right up your alley!

Some complain about the digitized graphics and call this "one of the worst of the series", when you have to ask yourself, is this not a natural progression for Shinobi at the time? If they weren't going to go 3D, what did you expect them to do, another Shinobi III on the Saturn? The series needed to progress onto the 32-bit platform and I think they did a pretty good job of it here. I am not a huge fan of some of the stage design, but that is not to say it isn't a good game. I think the graphics looks great and really showcase the 2D horsepower of the Saturn. Not to mention those cut scenes? lol come on, how can you not like those.

Are you serious??? Sega's level of innovation was top notch. First fully 3D racer (Virtua Racing), first 3D fighter (Virtua Fighter), first 3D gun game (Virtua Cop). Then you have the Panzer Dragoon series and Nights, Burning Rangers, Guardian Heroes to name just a few. And that's not even going into what they did on Dreamcast. You don't know your gaming history.

I was little scared playing this game back in the day ahahaha bare in mind I was kid. The soundtrack & the dark mystical night (in the first stage) the massive statues, the blood and the floating mask boss it all scared me. But looking back this was a dope game! I've also actually really grown to like Japanese culture because of animé!

The FMV was cheesy for sure, but most mid 90's game FMV was. I'd like to see Sega release a Shinobi Game Collection on modern consoles with all of them, including this. To my knowledge they've not released the real Shadow Dancer arcade game on a home console. The Genesis and SMS ports were totally different games than the arcade counterpart. They should also include the awesome GG Shinobi's and have the wizards at M2 put it all together. Throw in stereoscopic 3D and remaster the FMV on Shinobi X from the master video. Like they have done with Sonic CD's intro in HD 16:9. ... .... Revenge of Shinobi will always be my favorite, with the original Shinobi arcade game coming in at a close second. I used to play it at the arcade for years.

Whoa, they changed the music for the American version! This might be better actually. I can understand why some people might not like this compared to the Genesis Shinobi games, digitized graphics just don't convey that classic game feel. But really this is one of the best scrolling platformers on the Saturn, I would say only Silhouette Mirage and Psychic Assassin are as good or better.
