2. Games captured via MAME mainly. The Virtua Fighter Segment is the Saturn version, and Sega Rally was captured thanks to Nebula Model 2.
3. I make these episodes in the hope that it garners enough views and comments for Sega to take notice of it.
4. You can see I stuck mainly to arcade games here, not really focusing on Saturn much. I tried to look at it from the perspective of software M2 already had emulation experience with.
5. You may have noticed I was all over the track in Power Drift. I have never been able to accurately get my gamepad setup in MAME for that game. It's either too sensitive or completely broken. I did the best I could with the control.
6. SegaSonic The Hedgehog is nearly unplayable with a gamepad in my experience. Capturing the footage you see was infuriating, and only switching to the mouse was I able to get any resemblance of coherent gameplay.
7. I'd love to see Sega put Star Wars Arcade on the Sega Ages rotation, but I think the license would cost far more than the game would return. Especially with dealing with Disney and EA.
8. Desert Breaker is 3 player, not 2 player like I mention in the video.

Sega Rally is easily my most favourite racing game ever, I've played it to death since its Japanese release on the Saturn. I played it just about every day for more than a year. Especially memorable are those long winter nights with a good cup of coffee and the company of Sega Rally, perfecting my times, and when finally going to bed after 3-4 hours play, I could still hear "easy right, long medium left". Sega Rally I love you. ❤️

As far as Model 2 games are concerned, arcade perfect home versions of Virtua Fighter 2 and House of the Dead should be considered. There are so many from the Saturn the deserve re-releases as well.

My SEGA AGES Wishlist: Ristar - Yes, it's another Genesis Game, and yes, it's recieved multiple rereleases since, but that's why it's at the BOTTOM of the list, because all that being said, it's a gorgeous and wonderful game well-deserving of the SEGA AGES treatment. Maybe even with an option to play the game on an easier difficulty for beginners, or a mode that allows you to choose between the NA and the JP versions...And yes, there are notable differences between the two. Bonanza Bros. (PS2 Version) - Save me the sub-par Genesis port of the game, I want to see the version that SEGA themselves made as part of SEGA AGES back in the day of the PS2. Add in an online co-op mode to play with a friend, and we're all covered..."Eh-Heh-Heeeeh..." Bug! and Bug Too! - Out of all the games on SEGA Saturn, this game would probably be the simpliest to port over. I could DEFINATLEY see M2 and SEGA port these two games over the Switch without TOO MUCH technical problems. Also, having a selection of difficulty and potentially a better save feature (at least for the original Bug!) would a be a blessing for games as unforgiving as these... Astal - Now this one is probably my most-wanted SEGA AGES pick. Like the Bug! series, I feel this is another game SEGA could benefit on porting over to SEGA AGES from the Saturn without too many issues. Plus, to have a version of the game that allows to swap between NA and JP versions would be simply amazing, maybe even including a new English version of the song, "Let Me Try Again"...

In my opinion, Sega should stop doing Genesis games as those have been done in countless compilations already (plus the Sega Genesis mini released last month so we've had enough of Genesis). They should move on to games from the SG-1000, Master System, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn and Dreamcast. They have so many other consoles in their varied & rich history and doing only Genesis games for Sega Ages is a waste of potential. I want them to dig further in their catalog.

M2 can't do Saturn games. ST-V is beyond their capabilities. (If they are able to do NAOMI/Dreamcast, that could be the challenges of emulating Saturn games)

There are probably too many racers on this list. Power Drift, Outrunners and Rally would suffice. Right now it is criminal that Revenge Of Death Adder is not available. I have played it in the arcade recently and it is head and shoulders, the best beat em up ever made, let alone by Sega. I would also like to see the Golden Axe fighting game available on a mainstream console. My most controversial pick is a remastered Eternal Champions. I thought it was a cool concept for a fighting game and carried great potential. The Planet Harriers games look great and I would love a shot at playing them. I would love to see the Spider-Man arcade game, but guessing it has a lot of barriers. As for it only being on Switch, I imagine the issue is with Sony and Microsoft. Otherwise why would they not publish these on PS4? I wish Sega was more like SNK. They have most of their library readily available at a reasonable price. Though at least they have the Genesis Collection super cheap.

Man, all of these would be awesome to see on Sega Ages. I recently just played Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder at an arcade, and it's such an awesome game. Virtua Fighter 1 and SegaSonic getting ported would be awesome. Hopefully M2 can find ways to convert the AM2 refits for PS3 and 360 of Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, Sonic The Fighters and Virtual On over to switch too.

Fantastic video! I love Sega Ages on Switch but I totally agree it should be multiplatform, it's pretty silly that it isn't already. Would love to see Sega Rally, Daytona, OutRunners, and Power Drift to name a few. One game that would be insane to see would be the original Monkey Ball arcade game. That would be a really cool and with a new Monkey Ball coming out it seems like Sega isn't done with the franchise yet!

I would love to see an Outrun collection appear on systems like the Xbox One, PS4 and more as well as an Arcade collection consisting of games that have never had any releases, or almost no release, outside of the arcades. It's disappointing that Sega Ages is limited only to Switch instead of being in the wider gaming market on other systems. Also a complete release of Shining Force 3, fully translated, on all current systems would be great to see. It's been over twenty years since the game was originally released but never got a full release outside of Japan, it's long overdue.

An arcade perfect port of VF2 was released on Xbox arcade which runs at 60 FPS whereas the original arcade ran at 30fps iirc. I am too lazy to check. So many sega games I would like to see rereleased on other machines ❤️

If M2 could get the chance to lavish Daytona USA with the same treatment Virtua Racing received with their masterful Switch port, they would earn Sega a heap of money and make their biggest fans very happy indeed. I was utterly blown away with their incredible VR port, so I can only imagine what Daytona would be like. Oh, and Sega Rally 1 & 2 please.

I always found Arabian Fight intriguing. I only got a chance to play it in the Showboat Casino arcade in Atlantic City as kid due to it being a rarity. I used to love the scaling and the magic animations.

I'd really love to see a Virtua Fighter perfect (plus) arcade port. It's such a shame that there never was one. Even more so since I recently got the Saturn version and now understand better what the negativity was all about (youtube video's somehow didn't quite bring it across to me). Of the games on this list that I've mostly gotten to know through Sega Lord's channel, I'd most like to see Outrunners and Golden Axe.

Here are my thoughts and some of the games i want. Sega Rally slipped my radar as a potential release, but it would be a good addition. Ive been wanting a home port of Revenge of Death Adder for way too long, and Sega Ages would be a perfect way to release that. Outrunners needs a good port besides that travesty that was the Genesis port. You could even give it the treatment that we got for Virtua Racing with the split screen for multiplayer. Though...you wouldn't be able to select individual songs on the radio. As much as it would be nice to get an arcade perfect port of Virtua Fighter, I'd like one of Virtua Fighter 2. We did get one on PS3/360, but it was kinda bare bones. Id love to see that get the Ages treatment. Also, in regards to your licensing comment toward Star Wars, since that property is now owned by Disney, and considering that Disney and Sega have had a good working relationship in the past (and perhaps now since they allowed them to put Castle and World of Illusion on the Genesis/MD Mini), I feel like there'd be a small chance that the we could at least get Star Wars Arcade (the one that was ported to 32X). Ive only been able to play that game once at an arcade (at Galloping Ghost Arcade in Chicago), and its definitely something Id like to play more.

I have a feeling Virtua Fighter will be next since Sega has stated that they want to appeal to the Japanese audience and VF is a game much beloved by Japanese players, there's no reason why they wouldn't do it soon.

Sega themselves didn't port these versions, they tended to license some of their games in other regions. This accounts for japanese ports of AfterBurner, Shinobi and Space Harrier showing up on the Famicom, and PC-Engine, and Outrun making an appearance on the PC-Engine among other platform. All of those releases of Power Drift were either European (by Activision) or Japan (PC-Engine by Copya systems). Sega did make a Saturn port for the home market.

But they were still Sega licenced. It's Bizarre that Sega would not release it on their own consoles but allow it on every other system. The ship had sailed by the time the Saturn arrived.

@@alexojideagu Yeah, I wish sometimes they would have guarded their IP a bit harder back then, one of the strong points and draws on the Genesis was Sega's arcade library, who was going to buy a MegaDrive in Japan if some of your 1st party titles were showing up on consoles the customer may have had, regardless if the Genesis version might have been the superior version (the Sharp X68000 also received many of these Sega games and were very often better/closer to the arcade original). Sega probably saw it as a way to make money.

Yeh the X68000 was basically a home arcade (plus perfect source codes) Japanese companies like Sega and Capcom partly protected themselves by refusing to give European computer publishers their source codes leading to horrific ports! This showed complete contempt for the massive European Computer market.

i bought a 3ds xl (as i had a original 3ds still got but the 3d was crap unless you didnt move the system) the reason for the buy was the sega games in 3d streets of rage 2 but mainly galaxy force afterburner and blue thunder and outrun i basicly bought all the megadrive and gamegear games shinobi and thje they release a sega pack which has every game ive already bought but includes powerdrift for forty quid but you cant buy it sepratley and why wont they do a shinobi and shadow dancer release i bought a megadrive as a kid hoping they would put them on the system but they didnt dont get me wrong i love the 3 shinobi games but shadow dancer is crap compared to the original it took 15 years till i got a pc that could run mame and finally play the arcades and why dont they put a virtua raCING AND FIGHTER ON THE 3DS IT WOULD WORK GREAT BUT I GUESS SEGA STILL DOSENT KNOW WHAT PEOPLE WANT MAYBES WHEN IM 80 THEYLL FIGURE IT OUT lol

Power Drift a Yu Suzuki game well y hasn't this game came home if only on a Yakuza game or Shenmue III & many other Sega games I wonder y they never came home Rad Mobile another Sonic inspired racer Like Virtua Racing at least it came home . A lot of those games showed the way forward for some of Sega's 16 bit franchises going forward to 32 bit. Arabian Fight could have been a great template for a 32 bit 2D Streets of Rage, instead of them chasing a 3D Streets of Rage (why they didn't use their own Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Deka game as a Streets of Rage 3D template is also a mystery). I would have loved a SegaSonic the Hedgehog port back in the day (just because it was dangled as this carrot in the game magazines and I never got to play it in the Arcade) but seeing playthroughs today I don't think it would have done justice as a flagship entry in the Sonic lineup for Saturn; it was clearly an arcade quarter muncher with limited replay once you beat it. If it does make a Sega Ages appearance, maybe they could do a combination of analog and or gyro controls on the Switch? Or maybe re-imagine in it the vein of Super Monkey Ball?

Sega's racing games defined its arcade experience in the 80s and 90's. There are a number of racing games here, but each one plays radically different from the other. That's what made them so appealing.

The Saturn version of Virtua Fighter 2 resemble the arcade very well so it didn't bother me that it wasn't perfect it was good enough to make you feel like arcade at home but also like I always say I love Sega and I hate them at the same time

I'm beyond surprised you never mentioned Sega's Spiderman arcade 4P beat-em-up. I have a rom board for my System32, along with Golden Axe ROTA, and Arabian Fight. It would be nice to also see Galaxy Force II come home outside of a perfect 3DS release.

We need House of the Dead 1 and 2 on Switch! And regarding Switch exclusivity with Sega AGES, SEGA fans are used to getting SEGA games on one console. They can just buy a Switch and get the classic SEGA experience of owning a console with exclusive SEGA games on it. I mean, how many SEGA fans bought an OG Xbox for Jet Set Radio 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta or even Toejam and Earl 3? SEGA fans (and retro gamers in general) clearly aren't on Xbox consoles anyway. SEGA games also sell the best on Nintendo consoles going by past sales numbers on Gamecube and Wii, so I think the majority of SEGA fans have a Switch already to play these AGES games. If SEGA fans scattered anywhere when SEGA exited the hardware business, they went to Nintendo consoles.

They went to Nintendo with Sonic Team's games mostly, but the other stuff by SmileBit and AM2 wound up on XBOX and a few here n there on PS2. Japan got an entire series of Sega Ages on PS2 that America never saw including Phantasy Star remakes. EDIT: PSO 2 is XBOX ONE exclusive here too.

M2 are a very small independent company not owned by Sega comprised of a few really clever coders are good at tweaking old code and porting it to new hardware. There were seven or so AM studios at one point but they renamed most of them around 2000.

There are mostly only two games I really want to see get the Sega Ages Treatment. (There are others, but these have special reasons) Comix Zone and Virtual On. Comix Zone's subsequent releases were all just ports that were parts of compilations. ONLY compilations. Would be nice to have a version of Comix Zone that's actually has some quality of life improvements that make it actually beatable to more people. Like an actual lives system and proper continues since the original game requires you do it on one life bar. Virtual on the other hand is a criminally underlooked IP that never really got a chance to shine like some of the games in the top 10 list. Never advertised, there were ONLY 5 machines in the US, and while it was released on stuff like the saturn, dreamcast, and PS2, they were NEVER released in most game stores with no adverts or anything of the sort so you were most likely to find out about it by accident. Heck, there WAS a new virtual on game and even a compilation, BUT that's japanese only for the forseeable future much to the dev team's dismay. Short and sweet with Virtual On, the game NEEDS a port. With the Switch, they can ACTUALLY mimick the arcade controls with the joycons so they can literally replicate the experience while offering traditional controls. For anyone wondering how it plays, it's similar to ARMS, but it's faster paced, more varied in combat, has a cover system, has an amazing soundtrack, and overall a greater game.

Sega needs to revisit the idea of remaking Phantasy Star End of the Millenium. We were originally supposed to get this as a PS2 game part of the Sega Ages 2500 series but due to poor sales the 2500 line was killed off before it could get made. Instead the last Phantasy Star Algol game on the system was a compilation of the 4 main entries, the 2 Game Gear games, and the 8 text adventures.

Living in the West, it's easy to think that Sega is dead. Any Sega Fanboy needs to make a trip to Japan though: There are Sega arcades EVERYWHERE. Tons of huge buildings with the Sega logo on top and at the entrances...there are other arcade brands, but Sega is one of the most notable, at least to my eyes. I'm saying this because I never really played many Sega arcade games, yet there are clearly so many amazing games. And there are plenty of experiences that are locked to arcades, and not because the games failed. There just aren't arcades in the West, not the way there are in Japan, so we don't really see that Sega is still alive. But it is.

Probably. So far Sega has only really messed around with the simpler 2D RPG's for Sega Ages. If Sega were to do Skies of Arcadia today, it'd likely be a full remaster or remake.
