I've really wanted to play the Sega Ages remakes of "Phantasy Star" and "Phantasy Star 2" on the PS2. I love the remastered music for the first game and have used the game's title screen as a wallpaper for my cellphone. Even with what little Japanese I can read, I can understand that they did expand the story much further such as Alis telling Odin that Nero was her brother after you free him from petrification by Medusa or the trash talking that Neifirst does to Nei before you fight her.

@@PutlerHuyIo it is truly a baffling decision to make that change. The game is no skip through the park and they took away a power bar. Ridiculous. Sega Lord X yeah, when I had mine it was running alongside the MD. it was very much the budget option, and the prices reflected that. I had a NES for a bit as well, literally I was the only kid I knew who had one, hardly any retailers sold the games or machines. lol. In King's Colossus, since you named your character 'BADASS,' it made that old man at the beginning seem _real sarcastic_ * character hasn't done anything yet "Hey, BADASS!" (^-^) These all look fantastic, but that moment stood out for making me laugh :P Definitely in the mood for more retro goodness right now too, as I just got back from the RetroWorldExpo in Connecticut over the weekend and have plenty to play. Even nabbed a Genesis 3 just so I could have it (I've never seen it before - it's _so tiny_ and, like, "90's Discman looking." I literally thought it was a portable CD player when I first passed it a few times), so my urge to play, or replay my, classic Sega games is rising :) Also, that Z-Treme demo is super impressive, but I admit I'm kinda bummed the dude's turned to making a Quake/Powerslave-style FPS for the Saturn with the tech instead of finishing work on his version of Sonic X-Treme that that engine was made for. Still, you're right about it in general SLX, and I hope his work figuring out the development environment on that hardware definitely informs some future fan projects on the Saturn homebrew scene, because - regardless of whether it's running Sonic or an FPS - it is impressive as hell.

Great video! Though regarding Sonic Megamix, I think it would've been worth briefly mentioning the later version for Mega CD, which has some neat stuff like brand new custom bosses, and more new custom art replacing some of the palette swapped level art. It's a real shame work on it has been discontinued. Also, I think my _dream_ hack would be someone porting all the MW IV moveset to Wonder Boy in Monster World! And I think it's time I set up my modded Saturn again (my pretty white Japanese one that can read CD-Rs, albeit not very reliably... often takes 3 or 4 burn attempts to make a disc the Saturn can read, even if other optical drives have no issue with the Saturn-unreadable discs). I of course only ever use this capability for homebrew and legit backups, because I'm a very pure and innocent girl who doesn't even know what bittorrent is, and _certainly_ doesn't use it to watch whatever television can't be found on Netflix. Even if I'm in near poverty and can't really afford to spend much on media, I know that without IP laws and without Mickey Mouse having a copyright length of author's death plus 750 years, society would descend into anarchy, cannibalism, and wanton jaywalking.
