Segelflygplanskrasch på Kråkerås ägor 4 augusti 2012 eller "A glider offpist"

Ett segelflygplan landar på Kråkerås, i Källreda, Tolg, Växjö, den 4 augusti 2012. Landningen blev lite halvdramatisk, p.g.a. (förmodligen)lite "tight" landningsbana i fel vind och nerförsbacke. Så det krävs några smärre reparationer av flygplanet, vilket framgår av filmen . Sailplane, Glider, Segelflugzeug (version 2)

As a former glider pilot, I have to say that this approach was absolutely unusual and very dangerous. The field would have been big enough for a completely normal and safe long final approach. Turning at such a low altitude is potentially fatal. These pilots were lucky to get away with their lives.

SO you could judge it based on a low and single angled view video ? Good for you ! Turning at low altidue is better than to crash in the trees, all what you have to make sure is having enough speed, which I think they managed beautifuly here.

@@12345fowler The field seems large enough by far (2:48!) and there are no obstacles that would make a long approach impossible. An outside landing that ends in a rupture is almost always a pilot's error if there is no technical defect on the aircraft. A landing like this has to be planned well in advance, and that is always possible. If a pilot puts himself in a situation that forces him to land like the one shown here, that is definitely a mistake.

Massive field that !! I've land in much smaller fields. Wonder if pilot was current in his field landing exercises?!

One crappy glider pilot. He had minutes to set this landing up, wind direction, longest field, fewest obstacles on approach, etc. I only hope that it was a glider that he owned.

That did not end well 0_0, landable field but a written off glider, and looking at the wreckage, it's a motor glider! Obviously not enough planning.

Its impossible to see what is really going on there as far as tree heights . It looked to me like they came in clearing obstaclescabd had to ground loop hard as the paddock run out. Easy to be an arm chair expert here without being there.

The pilot had to land, he picked a field and either went in downwind which meant his speed was too high to keep control or he hit an obstacle on the ground. It looked like an obstacle as his nose wheel was ripped off which means it hit something hard. If you have to land one of these away from a runway then this is a possible outcome.

Definitely agreed. Been flying these since 1990. That was a really poorly executed landing.

If "can-do" mentality is demonstrated, the proficiency must still be higher than the "can-do" maneouvre requires. Approach was not stabilized, and not really controlled.

If he had a motor on it he could climb on a safe altitude and keep flying. Why would someone spend some thousands Euros to buy a glider without that dam motor...

It seems as if the plane has had an engine in the fuselage as well, so that he could have had avoided the outlanding completly.
