As much as I miss the interaction and style Dan brings to videos, I also appreciate this throw back “just a guy with tools and a camera” style. I say “stay safe, have fun, stay passionate and make something” with you at the end of your videos. You should put that on a t-shirt. I’d buy one.

Everything is weird right now, which is what makes me appreciate your videos all the more. My son and I watch all of your videos and you're always doing interesting projects with a "Can Do!(whatever-I-want)" attitude that is always inspirational and amusing as hell, thanks for all you do Dave! I hope your family (and camera Dan's!) are being safe, having fun, staying passionate and making something!

I need to say thank you for this video. I've gotten into kind of a funk over the last week ecause I haven't been working. I have a small shop set up in my garage but didnt spend much time out there over the past few days. When you pointed to the camera and say "make something!" I felt like you pointed at me. I'm on my way out there now. Thank you that was the push I needed to get off my ass.

Noice! Cutting the same types of angles on longer boards allows you to make "stave-built" drums in a pretty similar fashion. That's a project I've been contemplating for a number of years. Great video. It’s motivated me to try a segmented turning. Ive been turning for about a year and really enjoy it, but haven’t messed with turning the inside of wood like a bowl or a vase. Beautiful project, David! I wouldn't have thought to do segmented rings on the spindle sander that way. Great tip and the hickory accents smash the pots through the roof! You're right, things are just weird now, but you should know your videos are always a lighthearted moment. If they are 5x a week or once every 5 weeks don't matter, so long as you enjoy what you're doing. And please, try not to focus on the trolls too much. The vast majority of your viewers are supportive, and the rest can go talk in a baby voice

On the non lathe version you can use a router with a pattern bit (ball bearing near the shaft) of even if you don't have that use the bushing guide and templates for interior and exterior and then sand it - it is much faster then sanding it all the way

If you’re making segments, it works really well to glue up the rings in halves. Let each half dry and sand them flat. Then glue those halves together. You get a better seem that accounts for some mis- measurements
