Well Gord I clicked Like because I loved it. Even though you beat me to using up my extra rings I still loved it..LOL They seem to have been meant to go together if you ask me. Really nice piece made of your leftovers. That finish, fantastic! I think I've decided that I cannot do video Simply for the reason that I would not be able to handle the know-it-alls in the comment section. Those armchair turners or people who always know something better than you, but never demonstrate their clear superiority, are people I just couldn't handle trying to deal with in the comment section. As for the displaced, KZbin used to use a five star rating system and at that time you were rating with quality of the video, not the content. For all you know a thumbs-down could be because somebody perceived an audio glitch or didn't like the frame rate of the vase spinning when you were applying the shellac and the optical illusion it created. Keep being you and creating your videos Gord. We love them!

I understand what you're saying, Jay. I ALWAYS get at least one thumbs down no matter what I do or how many thumbs up I receive. I once blocked a viewer from commenting because he was rude and foul mouthed. Ever since that happened I get the thumbs down so I assume he's a troll and still hanging around. It actually did bother me at one time because they never say what they don't like. My friend Mike Waldt once told me "haters will hate and you can't do anything about it". He was right and now I have arrived at the point where I really don't care!! I appreciate the people who give a thumbs up and don't worry about the trolls. I really appreciate you, Jay. I will dwell on the "nice" people!! Thanks for watching, Jay! 😃😃😃

@@GordonRock1 I get it, and maybe my skin would thicken, but I know from my photography career how I respond to unwarranted hate from people I'll never meet. I guess, like you, I try to understand why. Often it's only a reflection of their own dissatisfaction, and not the work they are disliking.

I like the "Like" button so I clicked it. There is no "Love It" button so that is the best I can do. This one kind of reminds me of a glorified bee hive, perhaps a "Bee Condo". Beautiful piece Gord 😁👍🏼👏. Do you have the whole wedgie sled and wedgies set that you cut your segments with?
@GordonRock13 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it, Japie. Yes, I do have a wedgie sled and wedgies. I don’t know how I ever got along without them before I had them. They are a godsend for segmented turners. Thanks for watching! Stay safe and healthy!

How did you attach your cole jaws to the tail stock?
@GordonRock13 жыл бұрын
I use an adapter for my Oneway Live Center. It allows me to screw a chuck to the adapter which will then turn with the Live Center.

Maybe you could publish some photos of your bowl on your channel, Chris. I would love to see what you did with it. I don’t know what I’m going to give away just yet. I’m trying to think of something special to turn. Take care of yourself, buddy! Thanks for watching!

Hi I’m a new wood turner and using my dad’s old roc well belt driven wood lathe and looking to upgrade. Could you give me some advice please
@GordonRock13 жыл бұрын
Gordon, that is such a difficult thing to give advice on. Most wood turners that I have talked to have always said that once you are sure that you like wood turning you should spend as much as you can afford on the best lathe you can purchase. There are so many makers of good lathes out there that I hesitate to recommend one over another. It also depends on where you live. A manufacturer in your area may be able to supply a good lathe at a better price than you would find if you had to import one. I’m sorry that I can’t be more definitive. I suggest that you just shop around at your local Woodturning shops and see what they have to offer. I wish you luck on your search!

@@GordonRock1 thanks. I live in Pincher Creek AB do you know a good place in Calgary I could start looking?
@GordonRock13 жыл бұрын
Small world, Gordon! I live in Red Deer. I should tell you that I used to work for KMS Tools (Red Deer). Also, I use a Nova lathe and love it. I have friends who turn on Laguna lathes and are very happy with them. I would recommend shopping at KMS Tools in Calgary for Nova lathes and Black Forest Wood Company to look at Laguna lathes. Then it will be dependent on budget and what you want to turn. Almost every turner gets a first lathe that they think is all they want and then has to upgrade to something larger and more powerful. I’m on my fourth lathe and wish I had bought the biggest I could afford at the very beginning. If I can help further just let me know.
