I'm going to put this here as there is no where better to put it. Teddy, I want to say thank you. At 41 years old I finally decided to buy a nice watch, actually my first watch. I knew I wanted something well made, automatic, smaller case and 200 was about my limit. I settled on the Seiko 5 SNKC55J1 and ended up at half my spending limit. To be honest I probably would have ended up having purchased " the wrong one" or having a bit of buyers remorse if not for your videos and information you have put out. THANK YOU !!!

Looks like the SNKA01 and SNK603 both have specialized (integrated?) bracelets that look like you wouldn't really be able to change out. Being stuck with a Seiko 5 bracelet (probably folded links? Maybe the kind that rip the hair off your arm?) and no option to put it on a leather strap is really a deal breaker for me. I like the dials and cases though.

I just scooped up a Seiko 5 SNK361 with the Seiko 5 logo pattern across the dial (a baby Grand Seiko SBGH267). The dial (mine is black and there is a navy blue option #357) is very subtle and most people wouldn't even notice it unless I told them. Surprisingly the watch has a nice weight to it even without that lackluster bracelet, and it hugs the wrist really well.

Hell yeah, my prayers have been heard! For a non American watch fan its truly hard to find bargains because of the shipping and taxes, just for an example, I live in Chile and my first watch that I bought with my own money was a blue/tan timex expedition scout from Amazon, it was 40 dollars, I've ended paying 53 dollars for everything. Yes, is a lot for that watch but in retail stores it's sold for about 90.000 chilean pesos that roughly translates to 140 dollars!!! I can't thank you enough because whenever it's one of this videos I know I'm getting the best deal for my hard earned money :)

I bought the Seiko snk793 back in January as my first automatic watch and I love it. It has a beautiful navy blue dial and a very nice design. And it looks great on a leather strap. If you are looking for an amazing looking watch that can be dressed up and dressed down for an affordable price it is an awesome choice. I had been watching it for a few months and bought it off of amazon when it dropped down from $90 to $70. Though it may have gone back up in price by now.

Thet Seiko 5 is actually a SBSA043 and NOT the SRPE53. SRPE models are only partly made fully in Japan as for some of the components come from China and Malaysia! So the Seiko 5 SRPE53 is only partly made in Japan and is for sale Internationally woth that product model. What comes to the SBSA043 model you have Teddy.. Is for JDM (Japanese Domestic Market). And ALL the component are truly made in Japan! That is indicated with the "Made In Japan" text located between the dials 7 and 6. On the International SRPE53 models there is no "Made In Japan" text.. And the text can wary in placement and content from year to year. Just a little insight.

I'm glad you mentioned the SNXS line. Rolex OP with a huge discount. Swap out that joke of a bracelet for a nice leather strap (19mm is the one drawback) and you have a very subtle and clean watch that looks much more expensive than it is. Probably the next budget watch I'm going to buy but they do make a dark charcoal dial along with the silver so that's where a decision has to be made. Hey Teddy, I’ve been educating myself and watching all your videos. I’ve been a lover of watches my entire life, I’ve always felt a affinity to time pieces of all types... and much like you used to, I’ve been mostly buying nice looking but crappy quality fashion watches for years. Haha, actually I remember buying fake Rolex Submariner’s and Movado’s when I was teenager at flea markets when I go up to NY for the summer. So anyway, as of late as of late, a few years ago, I found a vintage Hel Bros. (from the 70’s/80’s) at an antique thrift store at a flea market in upstate NY years ago. I paid $15 for it, took it off the gross stretchy metal bracelet, cleaned it up a bit and put it on a warm brown leather strap with white sticking from Hadley Roma, and started wearing it non stop. I’m not sure of the size, I think it’s about 34mm. I love it, it’s mechanical, so if I don’t wind it, it stops, which happens a lot. I have a 6 3/4 wrist measurement and I’m tall, lean with long limbs, so smaller case sizes are perfect for me. I usually perfer dress watch styles over more causal... Anyway, moving forward, I wanted to thank you for the beautiful and straight forward way you give over your content and opinions. So, I decided it’s time for my first automatic watch, after watching many of your videos and checking what other watch enthusiasts had to say, and comparing the styles of the different models, styles etc, I decided I’ll try the Seiko SNK793 with the handsome blue dial. It’s supposed to arrive tmr. So, I know that the metal bracelet I’ll want to replace, because as you said, it’s not very good quality, and I’m not crazy about the link style. Now, I can obviously put this on a beautiful leather crocodile strap in either black or that nice blue you have on your site, or I could go with a warm brown with some character, if I wanted to do the whole brown and blue combo. But what if I want to rock a metal bracelet for a while before I switch it out for leather, what bracelet would you recommend for this model? Also, I need a more out doorsy kinda field watch for when I go hiking in nature and am in water a lot. I was looking at the Timex Expedition but the case size is 40mm but I don’t want one that big, so I looked at the mid size version in the 36mm but on Amazon there’s only one color that’s available, the army green, and I’m not really liking it. What do you recommend? Thanks so much for your time and for all amazing work you do!l

Wondered if you could provide me an answer? Sometime between 1969 and 1975 when I was travelling extensively and shopped in duty free shops in places such as the Dutch West Indies, Rabat, Cairo, the Virgen Islands, Portugal, Amsterdam, and a few other duty free airport shops, I (can't remember where) bought what I thought was a knock off Seiko watch which I've used for many years and is very accurate. The back says SGP Back St. Steel 7005 8022 Water Resistant 287584 Japan - M SEIKO. It's a self winding watch. Works like a charm all these years and I thought I was suckered when I paid $19.95 and bargained to pay 19 US dollars for the watch. Is it a real Seiko? Many thanks!
