It's not just a field watch, in my opinion. The polished surfaces and the radiant blue dial makes this a dressy sports watch. It's a good design choice for those of us who want one do-it-all watch.

Also, if one insisted on having more lume then the blue "dresskx" is an option. Because of this difference, it could be said that the field watch is the dressier of the two.

My girlfriend got me this watch as a gift. It’s my first automatic watch, and I absolutely love it. I usually wear a G-Shock, so I don’t notice how high it sits on my wrist, but I do agree with your gripes…awesome video.

Superb review. Just bought the same blue dial in Dec for my birthday. Other than non milled clasp, love the watch. Going to upgrade the clasp and all should be good.

Idk much but I do believe god really appreciates a watch man. Cool video man I bought this watch based on your review. I ended up going with the srpg27 but either way every day that I wear this I’m constantly shocked at how much I actually really like it. I look forward to putting as many years on as I can in order to really create like a cool vintage kind of look out of it one day

I think that covering the applied brushed-steel numeral indices with lume will destroy the elegance of that dial. Those applied brushed-steel numerals to me is the soul of this model and the reason why I'm buying one tomorrow 😍

Nice dial and layout, I agree the numerals ought to be lumed, really digging the color of the dial. I don’t like it enough to categorize it as a one watch collection piece though. As far as other field watches under $200… Not sure if it qualifies as a field watch but the Citizen Promaster Tough watches are pure utility, awesome dials (last I checked available in green and black), and can be gotten refurbed for under $200 on eBay. Mine has been through a lot of stress working in underground utilities, lots of sand and mud. Still looks like new. The titanium coating and sapphire crystal make it tough as nails.

It's a beautiful watch ... $ is tight right now paying 4.50 a gal here in california so no fun watch $ .... I will of course get my hands on one soon. I want a black dial white hands and numbers I like the black day/date rather than white wheel. Until then i will rock my MDC day/date field watch I purchased at amazon for 25.99....

Yes, lume should be on all digits because it's field watch and should be easy readable. In modern war this watch is not applicable at all with all that reflective surfaces and huge dials. Only one watch in this price range that has digits instead of indexes.

I think a wide variety of dial colors (red, green, tan, salmon, pearl, yellow, etc.) would make this watch quite popular. It has all the features and specifications a field watch should have.✌🏽

I think you have to be a real Seiko fan boy to purchase this watch. All in all, I don't think it's much of a bargain. It's like they spent all the money on the dial. Who needs the added thickness of a display case back for an ugly Seiko movement? Remember. If you pick it up for under $200, you'll still need to budget for a better strap - hollow end links, ugly pressed clasp - and was that folded links? No thanks. If I were going to spend $200 on a field watch, I'd look on Ali Express and see what I can find from San Martin, or Cronos or Steeldive, for starters. At least then I'd get solid end links and a forged clasp and sapphire crystal. Maybe not Seiko on the dial, but spending $200 and not getting the features of a SM or other premium generic, I'd feel like I've been taken. But each to their own.
