I own only one watch, a Hamilton Khaki Pilot Day Date, and it very much feels like the spiritual cousin to this watch. In particular the sunburst dial paired with the polished numerals and brushed hour/minute hands that thoughtfully interact with each other makes this feel like a dressier, more modern and creative take on their respective genre. Add in a day/date (though the symmetry on the Hamilton is more to my liking) and you have a perfect daily driver for most situations. I love my current watch enough to be really curious about this one. Thank you for another great review. #RelativeTime

Correction: The links of the bracelet are not solid. Seiko does a decent job of hiding it, but they are folded. -Update: Aug 22, 20210! [The Contest has ended! Thanks to everyone for watching and entering!] Giveaway Rules: The contest will run from July 31, 2021 to Midnight on Aug 21, 2021. One prize will be given, a Seiko SRPG29 . The contest is open worldwide, but to be eligible you must live somewhere the US Postal System will deliver mail to. To enter leave a comment and include somewhere in that comment #RelativeTime . After the contest is over I will select a winner from the comments at random and announce it in a community post. Then I will contact you, do a little verification, and mail you the prize. I will cover basic shipping with the USPS, but if you would like it sooner you can PayPal me the difference for more express options. Any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck.

@@Abhilash_Sarkar it is global... Well for the most part. You just have to be in a country the US Postal will send mail too. International shipping is still goofy with the pandemic. #RelativeTime When I see images of the SNZG I begin to miss the one I sold off a year ago. Shockingly good lume and probably the most legible watch I've owned, but then I remember how it wore a little larger than I liked and how much I disliked the 7s movement. This new SRPG looks like a very worthy successor to the older Seiko 5 field watches.

Great assessment. I recently picked up a SRPG27, and I'm extremely happy with it. I was a little concerned with only two micro adjusts, but I had no trouble finding a good fit. It's not a typical field watch like a Hamilton Khaki, but that's not what I was looking for. To me, it's a good GADA watch that's legible, has good on-wrist presence, and has a great-looking dial. And I was able to pick it up for

Interesting watch Shane. I'm a massive fan of the Alpinist, something about 39mm field watches... They're just perfect. That said, anything under with a timing/rotating bezel that is sub 40mm feels a little underwhelming on my large wrist. As far as cheaper alternatives? Can't think of anything either, however - if you are not averse to a homage, both the Tisell 39mm Explorer 214270 clone and the new SM 39mm Explorer 1016 homage are better watches for the ~ the same money, imo at least. Thank-you for the kind give-away. ✌🏼️

#RelativeTime. Nice review. VAER does offer automatic versions of their field watches, Miyota 9000 series or ETA, but they are in a higher price category than this SEIKO. Personally, I favor a smaller field watch, 38 at a maximum for actual field use, backcountry, hunting, and etc. And, I prefer a field watch with a lower profile, which is where VAER shines. And, the lack of lume on the arabics is a mistake on a field watch, IMO. But, I am impressed that they gave this watch a 100m WR. That is an improvement over the older Seiko field watches, nearly as significant as the hacking movement.

Any thoughts on the new Seiko Sharp Edged GMT? Also, relevant to the bracelet: my Seiko 5 SRPD bracelet failed today, a pushpin was dislodged, which was my fault on the job, but it took 20 seconds and a fine-tipped knife to reconnect it, so very functional. #RelativeTime

I'd give this one a 7/10. I'm a sucker for blue, but overall still continue to be disappointed in QC issues @ Seiko. They have so much going for them. I just don't understand any perceived willingness on Seiko's part to make corrections. All that being said, I just paid for a service to a 1967 Breitling Top Time and it is back to greatness and I'm back to broke. A nice field watch would provide a psychological boost and would be greatly appreciated. Nice review on this field watch #relativetime

When is Seiko going to make sapphire standard? Seems like their economy of scale would make the cost premium over hardlex minimum. Plus, I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't mind spending $5 or $10 extra for sapphire. The switch to sapphire is way overdue. With that said, this is a good looking watch. Personally, I would rather save up for a Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical though. #RelativeTime
