I own only one watch, a Hamilton Khaki Pilot Day Date, and it very much feels like the spiritual cousin to this watch. In particular the sunburst dial paired with the polished numerals and brushed hour/minute hands that thoughtfully interact with each other makes this feel like a dressier, more modern and creative take on their respective genre. Add in a day/date (though the symmetry on the Hamilton is more to my liking) and you have a perfect daily driver for most situations. I love my current watch enough to be really curious about this one. Thank you for another great review. #RelativeTime

A friend of mine bought this. At first he wasn't 100% sure about it but each day he loves it more and more. The readability, the fit, the simple hour and minute hands, the nice second hand the fantastic luma for the price the day/date function, hand winding, hacking all of it adds up to an unbeatable package especially for the price!

Correction: The links of the bracelet are not solid. Seiko does a decent job of hiding it, but they are folded. -Update: Aug 22, 20210! [The Contest has ended! Thanks to everyone for watching and entering!] Giveaway Rules: The contest will run from July 31, 2021 to Midnight on Aug 21, 2021. One prize will be given, a Seiko SRPG29 . After the contest is over I will select a winner from the comments at random and announce it in a community post. Then I will contact you, do a little verification, and mail you the prize. At 09:58 you said the SNZG has the numerals lumed up. In fact, most SNZG has only the indexes with lum. The only SNZG that I know with lum on the numerals is the SNZG17K1. Which is a limited edition with a bracelet, and all black PVD.

Well Shane, after KZbin recommended this vid I was first intrigued by the Einstein reference, then impressed by your honest account of this Seiko 5 field watch, and planned to subscribe anyway. Am a relatively long time covert Seiko owner - my early (1996?), ultra reliable (gains just 11 seconds over 18 months) and apparently very rare black face Titanium T732-OP90 field watch of course hides a Seiko quartz movement. Then you tell me your competition is INTERNATIONAL? So you just got a new sub. Thank you for sharing

Interesting watch Shane. I'm a massive fan of the Alpinist, something about 39mm field watches... They're just perfect. That said, anything under with a timing/rotating bezel that is sub 40mm feels a little underwhelming on my large wrist. As far as cheaper alternatives? Can't think of anything either, however - if you are not averse to a homage, both the Tisell 39mm Explorer 214270 clone and the new SM 39mm Explorer 1016 homage are better watches for the ~ the same money, imo at least. Solid links, are you sure? At minute 2.25, the joining line of the bent sheet can be seen on the side of the bracelet. The same goes for the bracelets of the seiko 5 sports. At least the links on the outside of the bracelet are not solid.
@RelativeTime3 жыл бұрын
They aren't, already posted a correction on the pin comment. I think it's the same bracelet that's on the dressKX. Seiko does a pretty good job of hiding it. At least compared to the older folded bracelets. As these seem to have more weight to them. So I wasn't 100% sure but after someone else commented, I double checked and then there's another line on the inside of the link. Plus mark from long island, refers to them as a folded and smashed in his video. And if anyone's going to know it's going to be him.
