Its a beautiful watch I've talked to someone who has this same model . they love it but said the NATO strap isn't the most comfortable . I would definitely change it to a barton strap. My 2 cents.

I have the black PVD version with the bracelet and more traditional dial (SRPD65), in retrospect, I wish I bought a normal Stainless Steel model but it is a keeper in my collection. Personally, the "Street" collection is not to my taste at all but I can see that Seiko is trying to modernize their image and target a younger audience with them. I can see what you mean with the tactical aspect of the design, it looks tactical in appearance but in my opinion, the lack of legibility means it's not very practical. I'm excited to hear your thoughts in the full review!

I’m not sure about the blacked out, but it’s a lot better looking up close than I’d have imagined. I think watches might be the only thing I don’t want completely blacked out. I got my entire left arm blasted with black ink to cover up old mistakes, I think a black watch against the blacked out wrist might be too much.

The SEIKO 5 of today are re vamped models of the original SEIKO 5's from the 70's. I had one of those as a teenager (heck that must date me LOL!) and it worked like a dream, 17 jewels waterproof to (I think 70m, it was some funny number). I dived with it (only snorkel at the time as I was just a kid and not certified SCUBA) but it saw rough as guts snorkelling diving from crays etc. and lots of beach action, it would be good to know how these "modern" SEIKO 5's stack up to the originals (BTW my original is no longer working-I think what went in it was the day/date mechanism but this was after some abusive years of wearing 24/7. It also suffered lots of shock at work later too. The bezel of this model you show also is a recapitulation of an old SEIKO quartz 100m diver, (I had it also and used it for diving a lot), it was very easy to grip and turn with gloves on and a simple yet effective design, in fact better than what is on some of their Prospex models now I reckon IMHO. This model certainly looks very cool!

Good Day; Nice Seiko Black Out. I don’t know if you know that your citizen Knight Hawk you have on is also a GMT. You can adjust the red time zone individually and it won’t affect the time. Like the wanna be GMT’s that you change the GMT in one direction and then change the time in opposite direction. It’s cool watch I have had the Knight Hawk since 2005 if I’m correct.

I am much more interested in the 5KX than I ever was in the SKX. Because of the better movement I'm willing to overlook the additional 100m of water resistance. TBH, I don't plan on diving with a mechanical wrist watch. Looking forward to this review.

Diving deeper than 100m (328ft)!!! What?!? I don’t understand why people complain about ‘only 100m water resistance’. I guess these are all non-divers making such comments. Recreational diving (PADI) is to 40m MAXIMUM. Unless you are a professional commercial, deep-sea saturation diver or a very specialist diver (e.g. Rebreather) then 100m is more that enough for almost all recreational divers. If you are specialist diver you will probably have a specialist watch suited to your craft.

If it's a "tactical" inspired watch then super bright, long lasting lume wouldn't make a ounce of sense since it would be another possible variable that could give your position (while on RECCE or what have you) away. Perfectly blacked watch.
