I was scrolling through videos and told my wife “there’s my watch”. I was a bit shocked when you read off the model number exactly. I was really shocked when you said when and where you bought it. I purchased mine in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia around November of ‘90. Like yours mine has seen a few things including parachute jumps as well. Airborne All the Way! I’m glad you enjoy your watch as much as I enjoy mine. Like you, mine is one of my prized possessions.

Thank you for your Service! Great story! I was fortunate to get mine on eBay many years ago for 32.00 dollars. Came as is runs and stops. After my version of a tuneup, it runs great and I get complements often. And like you I’ll never sell it. I wear it every day.

Thanks for sharing! I have the same one. Bought in Jeddah May 1990. Wore it for two years in high school and went into storage. It's still in excellent condition but the lume is dead.

You are right, the "new" Seiko rubber straps are very uncomfortable and long (my wrist is 7 inches), they are probably great for diving while wearing a diving suit but for daily use the Uncle Strap replica is way way way better. Great watch you got, I have one -7001 too.

Great watch, and loved the story behind it. If you had to pick one watch to represent Gulf War the pepsi bezeled Seiko would be the one! Worn by Stormin' Norman himself

What does the 9 in 7009 indicate? I have one also, just trying to understand what the numbers mean.

i have a similar watch, its the 7002-700A. Bought it second hand all stock except for the bracelet, its on a Nato Strap. I've always wondered how a stainless steel bracelet would look like. Thanks for sharing.

good that you didn't do a full restoration on it, tool watches with patina are the coolest watches to me.

Hi- thanks for the video! I have (what I think is) a Seiko 7002-8059, its 17 jewels/automatic and has a brass colored fixed bezel and a luminous green tinted face, I always wanted a nice watch and broke down and bought this for around $350 (?) in 1995 at a jewelery store, so now 25 years later it still keeps perfect time, I wouldnt mind finding a non luminous white face, all silver version, I saw a few that have already sold so I'll keep looking (not wild about the yellowish dial and brass bezel, I think the white/all silver looks better...) great watch! thanks for the history

Nice watch - when you were talking of reliability, metal parts in thr calendar... I'd rather have 21 or 23 jewels than 17jewels. 7002 have the mainspring harbour bearing cut straight into the metal plates, modern 7s26 and nH35 have the MS bearing in 1off jewel and 1off replacable brass bushing - way, way better solution in the long run

I really enjoyed this. Love stories like this. Hope my 009 will look like your watch one day. May I just ask, since these watches have a crown tube that is integrated with the case, how have the threads on your screw down crown held up after all these years? Have a nice day

Hi mate, rather than bringing such a great vintage watch with special sentiment to the grave with you, why not pass it on to your next generation as heirloom ?

Wow and it only costed new $50. US new and you gave the guy $75. US right in front of the store in 1990? If right at a new shop, you also could of give the money to buy you one for $50.? Bc all he had to do was go back in and get another one and made $25. instant profit. Anyway, thanks for the details and story.
