Excellent reviews, Marc. I had the SNE435 for about a year. I loved this watch. It was very durable, great looking, zero maintenance. The only reason I sold it was that I had two considerably more expensive blue dial automatic dive watches, and didn’t want a third blue dial diver. It was a temporary watch until I could afford the other two. But I miss it. So now I’m considering buying an SNE441, as it’s almost the same, but with a black case and dial.

the solars should have been WITHOUT the magnification on the crystal, and they should really up their game with the bracelets! both Casio and Citizen offer solid end links at that price and Citizen has machined clasps!

Marin Bilandzic I agree about the cyclops, that's a deal breaker for me. They're a scratch magnet and always seem to pick up greasy marks around the edge that are impossible to clean off..

Why is Seiko still placing the glow marker on the opposite end of the second hand? I just don't understand it.
@LostInIce46 жыл бұрын
The purpose is to make it visible while diving. The ONLY purpose of the illumination on the second hand is so that you can see the watch is still ticking.

Yes, I actually did a double take. But the Seiko Monster is also 20mm. So it works. The strap is tapered at the end.

Hi Mark. Thanks again for a great review. I'm eyeing that solar padi for some time. My biggest concern is do you think that technology will last? I've heard about capacitors on Kinetic watches breaking down. What do you know about these solar cells? Do they have a lifespan? Thanks!

I have a question Long Island Watch. I have tried to google but can never find an answer. What is the plastic over the back of the watch for? Covers the battery and is even on one of my mechanical watches. Removed one from one of my Citizen watches but it left a lot of sticky residue behind. Took forever to remove it. So I assume you are not supposed to remove them at all?
@islandwatch8 жыл бұрын
On battery operated watches, the back, or a portion of it, is covered by an insulator to help prevent the hot portions of the circuit from grounding.
@whoknowzTM8 жыл бұрын
Really? I find this very odd how no one told me this nor could I find any information about this online. It also mentions nothing about this in the massive book that came with my Citizen Eco Drive Nighthawk.

Not many quartz watches are like that. It's just not necessary. Doesn't mean its not done. But it would require more power and shorten battery life.

A question, Seiko makes such a good watch Why are they more affordable? Is it that people will pay more for a "Swiss" watch with a perceived higher value? I just can't believe that a midrange Swiss watch is physically worth more than its Seiko equivalent. And why is the Grand Seiko so under rated?.....I bet you could do a whole video on this question. Thanks for any feedback you can offer to a new watch addict.
@islandwatch8 жыл бұрын
Joe Deats Thank you. There's a lot to consider. The most paramount is probably labor Rates Swiss Rates are just very high. The Japanese can do it for less. And regarding GS, most people scoff at spending more than a few hundred dollars on a watch. Now spend a few grand? On a Seiko? Now you've got a very limited market.
