Beautiful watch. I was aiming to acquire the MM300 but I think this piece might be more versatile (and affordable!). My guess is the titanium black carbon is actually TiC, aka titanium carbide, another kind of ceramic. The typical ceramic bezel material in the watch world is cubic zirconia, which is actually less scratch resistant than TiC. If true, then the bezel on this bad boy is even more scratch resistant than the standard ceramic bezel; and because the bezel itself is steel, it's also A LOT more impact resistant than standard zirconia ceramic bezels.

Just got a new Spd187j1 here in the UK. Perfectly aligned bezel and 2 seconds deviation in first 30 hours. Very happy and 30% off list - guess end of line. Paid £742 ($880). Bit heavy at 185g but beautifully made. Just wished the bezel was 42mm to align with the 42mm case. My first Seiko. Highly recommended

Owned the mm300. I can say the mm200 is the better option. Reason being the unique case shape of the mm300 and its movement will be pain in the arse to get it serviced.

8:00 the bezel insert is made of aluminium, not ceramic. It was stated on Seiko boutique website from France. No way that the Willard and 62MAS reinterpretations (same movement and price range as this one) don't have ceramic bezel insert but this one does. Not sure if it has some kind of coating though.

I was really looking forward to you getting the new MM on on channel and even more excited to see an SBS review with the SPB185 as I'm really considering buying one but cant make my mind up regarding the colours. I think the steel bezel on the 185 looks so crisp against the black dial but then the understated blue on the 187 is also beautiful. Side by side might make my decision easier but curious to see which of the 2 you prefer in the end..esp as I know you're a fan of blue dials:-)

The only thing I wish Seiko would do is put an orange accent at the end of the minute hand so it’s immediately identifiable. The minute hand is the most important hand on a dive watch. They had a coloured minute hand on the PADI Prospex Solars.

Just had a look at both reference numbers, and the only difference I noticed, was about $200. $1200 VS. $1400. Both appear to be "J" models, but I see no physical differences between them. Still, for the price, I think they should have used the MM300 clasp, instead of the one with the lousy extension.

I would like to ask you a question, is it possible for you to attach the rubber strap of the 62mas or the Willard to this model? I'm not sure if it would fit properly as the holes appear to be too close to the outside edge. If not don't worry, I know it's a brand new watch from Kavar. Btw the list price over here is 1.250,00 EUR. Having two of the new Era Seikos myself, I think the price is absolutely ok for what they offer. In the intro, l thought you are talking about me, lol. The, 62MAS, Willard, and, now this. Three awesome reinterpretations. I got this too. Very different blue indeed, lovely. The finishing is serious for a fun watch. It cannot replace the MM300, but, nice for the boss to have a little brother. They do look similar. Btw, bro, the King Seiko reissue which we spoke of, will be out next month. 6L35 Movement. 38 × 11.4mm. Like the vintage 44 9990, it also has a 2mm protruding glass. Not considering that, it's less than 10mm tk. Finished to GS std. The big dial and protruding glass gives it fantastic wrist presence, similar to the 57GS. How not to buy seiko anymore? I need another watch box. 🤣

The 6R35 runs about 45 seconds fast a day. That’s a huge let down on watches 1k+. The way you timed it is 1 position... 6R sucks man

I do not have time to check 6 positions in video. all my 6R's have been doing very well. my blue willard check my reivew i did 2 positions. 1 month later still 0s/day. so everyone is going to get different results these are not regulated from factory so you need to be lucky. but urs is way out of spec. send it back.

I agree , i sold my 149 twice and 143. All three ran fast aging crazy seconds. Big Seiko fan as I own all the top dogs currently. The 037, 039, 043 and all my mm200 twilight blue, green gilt and blue hole which use the 6 R15 run dam good. The 6R35 is really not regulated at all. A nice Seiko and I love many but if it gains 30 -40 it’s not worth it. Seiko is getting more unregulated movements out because it simply make to many watches at all price points and they are actually proud that many with the 6R35 accuracy is awful.

Never buying a Seiko watch unless it has 28800bph minimum for a REASONABLE price unless its a beater. Keep getting disappointed 😧
