Its a divers watch - biggest problem for a diver is accidentally turning the bezel - the harder the bezel to turn the better - then you have the shroud which also protects the bezel from turning! The 'ridges' in the rubber strap are 'compression ridges' as a wet suit or dry suit will compress at depth so other straps need tightening at depth (idea is to strap it up super tight on the surface and as the suit compresses the ridges tighten the watch strap!

I've just got this today... what a beauty!!! My favourite watch in my small collection... my bezel runs smooth without any problem... the GMT hand is brilliant, i'm using it like a AM and PM indicator... If the hand is on the 12 O'Clock position this is the start of the day, and once it's in the 6 O'clock position that's midday and now PM... easy to workout if you want to be correct on reading a 24hour time, the lume markers are spaced at two hours, so break it down to four quarters of six hours or Early morning... morning... afternoon... evening... so reading the lume in the dark is now workable to read... I love the yellow, blue and black, makes me think it's a Valentino Rossi special edition ;)))

Thanks for the review. Just thought I'd share, the purpose of the ridges in the rubber strap is to give some stretch or extension when you go diving. Also, with regards to the ridges getting grime and dirt, just give it a quick rinse everyday.

just bought one of these. just a note on the GMT function, I guess you could just double the hours and that should work out for you!! So you do not need lume there!!

I bought this model of SEIKO GMT DIVERS PROSPEX KINETIC but with metal bracelet instead of rubber. An owner of this GMT must read the SEIKO manual when attempting to adjust the time and date because adjustment is very different than the watches without GMT function.

From my understand, the gmt cannot be used with time zone that are not in full hours. It seems the blue moves with the current minute hand. For example some places are -2.5hrs compared to the local time. If I’m wrong please correct me.

a bezel on a divers watch works better under water.The open area between 6 and 9 0'clock and between 12 and 3 o'clock markers is for a very good reason.TO PROTECT the bezel from direct hit and damage hence the SHROUD around the bezel.I love Seiko PROSPEX watches.

As a diver I use a dive computer. If you turn up on a dive with just a seiko the dive master wouldn't let you off the boat, in fact they wouldn't let you on the boat. These watches are for desk divers.

someone's probably told you by now: lugs, not lungs. othewise excellent videography on the watch...really got a great view of the watch and how the seconds hand hits the markers...quite well surprisingly.

The shroud is their so you don't knock the bezel and accidentally move it, also the watch is 2 piece so if shroud is damaged you only have to replace shroud not whole watch. A bit of research would have put you straight. Fantastic watch which is my daily beater and still looks like new 👍

I don;t this is big deal if knock the bezel and accidentally move it where at your desk or timing your pizza. A bit of research would have put you straight. My 2nd Fav seiko after the Baby tuna. Great watch would recommend. 6 month power, GMT, looks great, whats not to like. If you're after auto then go for the baby tuna over the turtle. The turtle is right at the bottom on my sekio like list. Its a nice watch but its over hyped. I trying to do the video this weekend but not sure if can have it up in time. Aways next week for 3 weeks for work.

You should drop a few drops of only pure silicone oil into the bezel's crack at the sides to keep the o-ring holding the whole thing on lubricated so that it doesn't become chafed from friction and become too stiff to turn freely. And I ain't lie'n!

As a diver I wear a suunto dive computer and not a sekio. No diver would wear a sekio to go diving that would be stupied. The only time you see divers wear this check out the other wrist you will find a dive computer. This type of watch is only your for instagram. I have had the watch almost 2 years and the bezel is very easy to trun now. What now?
