What I love about Jerry and Larry David is that they give people themselves and don’t try to pretend or hide who they are. Like Larry leaving the show because he was burnt out and wanted to try something else even when the show is wildly successful.

The writers throughout the series deserve WAY more credit. We never hear anything about them but they created everything
@MERCURYSUNSET
@MERCURYSUNSET Жыл бұрын
The writers created everything ? Jerry and Larry wrote 50 of the episodes . Every single other episode written by the other writers had to go through Jerry & Larry for the first 7 seasons and in seasons 8-9 after Larry left it was up to Jerry . Nothing passed through Larry or Jerry without them rewrites or tightening up scenes from those 2 .
@tombonneau
@tombonneau Жыл бұрын
Exactly what Mercury said. I read a book by one of the writers - he actually was a comic, played the really boring guy who Elaine dated bc he couldn't remember her name, ended up on Raymond I think? Anyway, he said Larry told the writers to come to them with ideas about stuff that happened to them in real life and pitch them as storylines. They (I get the impression mostly this was Larry) would then workshop the ideas and create their A/B/C storylines from all these ideas. Then one writer would be assigned to doing the outline for the ep, but pretty sure Larry & Jerry actually then wrote all the dialogue. That's until as stated S8/9 where it was much more traditional sitcom writers room, which is no surprise while they contain some gems are responsible for 100% of show's few clunkers.
@MERCURYSUNSET
@MERCURYSUNSET Жыл бұрын
@@tombonneau Cheers man .Spot on here .The fella you are referring to is Fred Stoller who was Elaine's forgetful boyfriend in "The secret code " ep . Fred wrote "The Soup " ep - the one where Bania gave Jerry an Armani suit . Jerry takes him out for dinner and Bania has soup . The other ep he wrote the Kramer and the chimpanzee incident subplot in "The face painter " ep . Yeah the dynamic of the show changed after Larry left at the end of season 7 became more absurd but in a good way . Seinfeld was Larry & Jerry's show with Jerry taking sole responsibility for seasons 8-9 .
