I honestly feel like it's not really fair. Saving the parents seems really irresponsible, they want to die, are cursed by the shar, tortured for decades, Shadowheart doesn't even know them... The logical long-term strategy is to sacrifice them so Shadowheart can be happy and free of the evil goddess. It feels like a punch in the face that them being alive (which I consider the easier/weaker choice) has a lesser payoff than doing the "right thing".

LOVE the happiness at 18:03 - Shadowheart laughing at remembering the taste of apple pie her mother made for her again after 40 years or father smiling at all animals at the farm....SHE DESERVES IT! The only better thing is Tav being there with her. ALSO - that line at 22:20 "Happiness is an active thing - you need to fight for it every day". Ufff - hits in the heart

I rather go with her being cured. I choose the option where she has to decide and even her parents told her she should let go. the epilogue dialogue was fantastic. also it fits perfectly with a Durge. both being tormented by their gods, both left those gods, both help eachother in the end. I literally can't play as a normal Tav anymore because I consider Durge the actual canon, it fits like a glove.

​@@foulXD true, I read on someone write about dnd lore. When the god marked you, you're eternal bound with them. That mean the wound will hurt her until she die and her soul is Shar's not like her parents go with Selune. I think she get cured, live happily with Tav or Dark Urge and rejoin her parents afterlife.

Hell, even if you choose the option where you let shadowheart decide, she ALWAYS choose to cure herself and her parents were thankful for it. I do not see any problems with that aside from the obvious mourning of shadowheart, but then again, this kind of pain is normal and that eternal pain sounds fking miserble and the fact that shar claims her soul is just pure depression.

I absolutely love that interaction at 6:09. It truly shows just how much Shadowheart has grown. Before she 100% would have forced Nocturne to turn against Shar, but now she's going to let Nocturne make her own decisions.

I've done the regular Tav playthrough, but romancing Sweetheart as Dark Urge, gotta go through that this next playthrough. Kind of a shame that we didn't have an ending where we could volunteer ourselves to carry the Sharran curse for her. This new epilogue is still fantastic though, love every bit, but I just gotta change my own canon events to fit this into it. Maybe the party happened before my own personal deal :)

Her romance works incredibly well with a resist Dark Urge. Definitely worth playing through. Two amnesiacs being pushed by their gods to do bad deeds, but you help each other through it.

When romanced, she's best off cured. When friended, she's best off with her parents. That's my opinion.

@@awesomepossum2598 Way I see it, if romanced she has the PC to be there for her through the grief that comes with letting her parents go to cure herself. She's already gone through a lot to get to that point, so she needs someone to support her at that moment. She will be free of Shar in the long term where you can start a new life together (works great with redeemed Dark Urge). Whereas unromanced, since she doesn't have that support, she's better off with the short term happiness of having her parents back who can support her, but in the long term Shar will continue torturing her through the wound long after her parents have passed away (at least her mother, not sure how long her father has in Elven years). Arguments can be made for both though, especially with the new epilogue showing she's happy no matter the choice.

SH does have that element to them. Especially in the Dark Justiciar ending. Someone did a really cool breakdown of her line delivery and contents that there's that note, underneath all of the devotion and praising to Shar that she wants Tav to somewhat save her.

I had no problem in sarcificing her parents, they wanted it so and even shadowheart choses to do it by herself if you tell her to decide. I consider it the canon choice. her whole story was about loss and it should end with loss BUT the Tav (durge in my case) helps her. keeping the parents alive just for them to witness their daughters suffering is not what I call "happy end".

Yes it’s probably healthy to let her grieve and get over her parents deaths but like, her whole thing was she wanted to find and save her parents, so why not let her win for once and get what she wants? Besides, Shars curse really doesn’t seem to affect her too much overall, a few seconds and it’s over.

I'm honestly a bit frustrated...after romancing Shadowheart all game one dialogue choice after you take out the brain can make you get the friendship ending instead. I had transformed to save the world and she suggested we head our own ways for now. I said I respected her decision. I didn't interpret that to be a break up but I still got the friendship ending dialogue for her. Man I was so disappointed! Wish that choice was clearer because the option that leads to the romance ending sounds so needy.

Maybe my playthrough was bugged( shadowheart did randomly mention her parents being alive in one line in the epilogue when the rest if the epilogue she was treating them as dead) but why does her wound continue to flair up after her parents sacrifice themselves? I thought the whole point of that was that she'd be free from shar

Were the parents actually sacrificed in your playthrough? If so, sounds like a bug if the wound flared up in the epilogue. I've had it happen in the regular game in a run where the parents were sacrificed but she would still get random pain when running around in the city.

Yes, although it may be a bit bugged. I was able to get her to take him in one ending but not in another. Not sure if it was bugged or not picking the correct options. I never got the options during my talk with the Owlbear, on one of my endings.. I'm going with bugged since I can't play fetch with scratch at the party but he keeps asking to play fetch.

@@DecScape Yeah mine was glitched too. I uploaded my epilogue and a separate video just for the Shadowheart scenes during the epilogue on my run. She was able to let her parents go in my playthrough and the epilogue proceeded as normal. But as soon as I told her that we should adopt the Owlbear, that’s when a stitched together conversation happens for the Cottage ending with her parents alive. I’m not complaining because it is nice to imagine her and who she romances eventually settling down after adventuring for a while, and I tried to structure the video so it would flow as seamlessly as possible, but it’s still a weird glitch that can break continuity.

I'm really glad you took the time to make this compilation. It gives me a chance to actually see what the different option are. Unfortunately for me, I am currently plagued with that 'Not Found' rubbish for my dialog choices, so I used this as a guide. I still can't really enjoy the epilogue though. I hope they fix it soon. For this run, I was a Drow Divine Sorlock redeemed Dark Urge (wow, that was a mouthful) with Selune as my deity. It made for some really fun interactions with my run-long girlfriend, Shadowheart. One last thing, my pink-haired light-skinned Drow was named Jennifer Moonchild. It seemed fitting since she is a follower of Selune. Also, two Jens. :)

I've only ever heard the "Not Found" dialogue bug in the act1, but it's now in the epilogue as well? Is it only affecting Shadowheart or other characters as well? I can imagine that puts a hinders enjoying the epilogue. I'm glad this video could help you a bit though ^_^

@@shadow_risen I've done two playthroughs within the last month, and unfortunately it has shown up in the same places both times. First run was with Shadowheart as my character. The second, a redeemed dark urge as Shadowheart's girlfriend. There were three places I had the issue: Githyanki ambush in the Emporer's old hideout, the final Baldurian statue in Wrymway, but the worst by far was the entire epilogue being rendered mostly unplayable by this. If the main characters spoke, it could sort of work, but not really. I would still have to make the choice and write down what it was said, breaking immersion with a nuclear bomb. I really hope they fix it soon. They sent me a response saying they are aware of the problem and are working on it. What I don't understand is why it happens at all.
