Putting some level 2 control arms on my daily a 97 c1500 base model long bed single cab. Should be a good upgrade since my front suspension is clapped I figured I'd replace it with something better. Gonna make a video to show how it turns out

The pro-touring arms, you said they have taller ball joints and increased castor.. but is the cross shaft to ball joint distance any shorter to improve static camber with the increased effective spindle height?
@QA1TECH
@QA1TECH 2 жыл бұрын
The control arm length is only changed minimally from stock. This is so static camber does not need to be so aggressive for better tire wear while steal improving the camber curve. The recommended starting alignment point for most GM control arms are +.5 degrees to -.5 degrees

If the car is mainly a streetcar, I would recommend our street control arms. Just a note that these control arms will only work with QA1 coil-overs.

can you explain what "low alloy " steel is ??
@MGdriver77
@MGdriver77 5 ай бұрын
Low alloy steel refers to steel that is alloyed with a small percentage of elements in addition to carbon to improve its mechanical properties and, in some cases, corrosion resistance. Unlike high alloy steels, which can have a very high percentage of alloying elements, low alloy steels typically contain less than 5% of alloying elements by weight. The addition of these alloying elements enhances certain characteristics of the steel, such as strength, hardness, toughness, wear resistance, and ability to withstand environmental conditions, without significantly increasing the cost. Common alloying elements in low alloy steels include chromium, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium, manganese, and silicon. Benefits of Low Alloy Steel: Improved Strength and Hardness: The presence of alloying elements can significantly increase the strength and hardness of the steel compared to carbon steel. This allows for the construction of lighter, more durable structures and components. Enhanced Toughness: Low alloy steels often have better toughness, meaning they can absorb energy and withstand impacts better than carbon steels. Increased Wear Resistance: Some low alloy steels are designed to have high wear resistance, making them suitable for use in applications where abrasion is a concern. Corrosion Resistance: Although not as resistant as stainless steels, certain low alloy steels offer improved corrosion resistance over plain carbon steels. This is particularly true for steels alloyed with chromium or nickel. Cost-Effectiveness: Because they contain a lower percentage of expensive alloying elements, low alloy steels can provide improved performance over carbon steels without a substantial increase in cost. Low alloy steels are versatile and used in a variety of applications, including in the automotive industry for parts that require high strength and toughness, in construction for structural components, and in the manufacturing of machinery and equipment. The specific composition of a low alloy steel is chosen based on the desired properties for its intended application.

@@MGdriver77 WOW! nothing like eloquently saying I don't know so I'll just BS you, fact is "low alloy steel" is simply a category and nothing special, simply 1018 or 1026. I really wanted to hear a response from QA1 but you took the bait.

@@pro-touringf-body5179 after a whole year of no response, you're going to clown the guy who actually answered your question? It's not like qa1 invented that manufacturing process. I wanted to get you an answer, but you had to be rude. You really sat here and waited 12 months for a company to answer your question. They answered almost everyone else, but you. It's like they knew you were a lonely fucking troll.
