Your reply to the first post in this thread - 'By the way, the ratio of miracle grow is 3-1-2 which I do recommend all day everyday (Not literally). 24-8-16 is a 3-1-2 ratio.' I think your reply is a little misleading. A balanced number of 20-20-20 indicates the fertilizer has the same concentration of all three, and twice as much concentration of one that has 10-10-10. So a fertilizer that is described as 24-8-16, is eight times more concentrated than one described as 3-1-2. The higher the number, the more fertilizer there is in proportion to the inert filler. I would consider Miracle Grow to be a high nitrogen concentrated feed. I prefer a liquid feed, so I'd dose with a max of half quantities. BUT - The blue color of those crystals is derived from copper sulphate. If you do not have fungal blight, you should not be using copper sulphate in your garden. Fungicide will effectively kill all of the positive fungal connections in the soil. Copper sulphate is also a bactericide, and as such, is not good for soil bacteria. There's a good justification for considering bonemeal or fish, blood and bone, which are organic, rather than synthetic, and also have a higher level of micronutrients. Seaweed fertilizers have high levels of micronutrients, but low, or no NPK. Dosing with different fertilizers (if you have the time) throughout the season can be beneficial.

Thanks for setting right my friend. I frankly have never had a single issue with using Miracle gro and I have been using it for about 30 years now and it is why I recommend it. I don’t like to use 1-1-1 ratios such as balance ferts because the movement of all three marco nutrients aren’t the same. N is the most used up nutrient on fertilizer and the more you are constantly lacking, also N moves through the soil composition way faster than P. I can tell you that I have had problems with excess of P in my soil and it’s not fun to deal with that. I would only use a balance fert if I have a soil test done and it tells me im lacking all three of the macro nutrients enough where I need a balance fert. As far as the Cooper Sulfate goes, I will do some research on that and I thank you very much for pointing that out. Stay Nutty my friend ✌🏻🍁🥜

If you use Holly Tone as a first app right now then your next app should be around 60 days after which will put you at around mid summer.

I’m currently at the big box store and I saw behind the bag that the miracle grow has a ratio of 24-8-16. In another video you mentioned that going above 12 and nitrogen is bad can you help me understand this better?

Yes, you want to stay below 8 on N but with miracle grow Ive never burn anything before for some reason. I have with other synthetic fert that was a 12 on the N. I’m guessing that it’s because miracle grow is just a quick feed and that’s it vs granular stays in the too layer of the soil constantly releasing N in the soil and that’s how you end up with a burnt plant.
