Yeah he probably thinks them getting to the finals was a fluke, but when you have the second best offensive player and top 3 player in the league with a top 20 player in the league anything can happen and they were a top 10 defense after the trade deadline and were number one in the last 20 games before the 2 games they rested their players and were a top 5 defense in the playoffs. That can’t all be a fluke.

Klay is most definitley in the convo for bottom 20 defender

The numbers say Klay peaked in 2015 and has been on a slow decline since. The numbers also say he's a bottom 50 defender last year. The eye test however says he's still significantly more valuable as a defender than the likes of Dame and Trae Young and you can be optimistic that in a new situation, a reduced role offensively, he might be able to dial up the defensive effort a bit. His defensive regression is real. He's a massive downgrade on DJJ. But he's still capable of playing a role on defense and if his minutes are more on the second unit, it might lighten the load on him.
