It’s absolutely breath taking how during the dance break at 2:15 JLo got Selena down perfect even to her facial expression. She had her mouth open then started to smile exactly as Selena did. She did an excellent re-enactment but that part she nailed perfectly. Makes me shed a tear. She really helped immortalize selenas legacy and was the perfect way to close out the last chapter of her life.

Selena's parents have said that at times watching this film was like seeing a ghost and I can see what they mean. Jlo's features are a little sharper - she doesn't have Selena's nose or chin - and Selena was the better dancer. But it's *CLOSE,* my guy. Jesus. A lot better than what Netflix is trying to currently pawn off on us. It's almost like the more time that passes, the more people forget what she was really like.

I always loved Selena. I’m not a big JLo fan sorry thou, Selena was a natural dancer. But no JLo is definitely the more rhythmic dancer. She was bouncing her head. lol not a Selena move but when you feel the music that’s the music in you. They have different styles indeed. Both wonderful but JLo is a better dancer. I think Jennifer got really close body' wise. Of course with her being Puerto Rican there will be a little difference in phenotype. But her makeup was much what Selena wore.They probably used the same makeup artist for the movie. I did pretty well dancing I think. Nobody can do it exactly like Selena did, but she got 85percent of it right. I saw bits and pieces of the show and though the actress has a bit more of a look of Selena, the acting wasn't as good to me.

Agreed. Nobody will ever do Selena justice in a movie or show like JLO did, It's like Selena chose Jennifer herself. Suzette has mentioned how Jennifer would do the same things Selena did and it freaked her out. They have a similar aura. Selena was a natural from the beginning, She was a great singer and a great dancer without any training. JLO was trained and is a very technical dancer..She's great, but Selena was amazing.

Todo eso es por la suma del pasado de selena en donde gano mas de 100 premios en vida y ser la unica latina popular en ser la imagen de coca cola o llenar el rodeo mas grande del mundo superando records de asistencia que tenia Sinatra o Jackson, sin olvidar que es la unica mujer en el mundo de la musica en tener 5 albumes completos dentro de los 200 mejores del mundo y ningun hombre o banda lo ha logrado.

Jlo did a great job and we should be thankful for having such an amazing performance and have one more thing to help us to remember our diva. I'm glad they used Selena's voice for the movie, at that time Jlo voice wasn't ready to sing like that. There's a show from an awards ceremony when she sings her songs after 20 years but now whith her real voice (better trained and mature) and she did it so nice and respecfully. I know Jlo doesn't have her voice and both are completely unique so we need to stop comparing these artist.

Creo que para todos esta película tiene un valor sentimental enorme. La mayoría crecimos viéndola en nuestra niñez/adolescencia. Yo la vi tantas noches por canal 5 (México), me encantaba tanto ver a esa chica llena de sueños y alegría, aun sin saber quién era (tenía yo escasos 4 o 5 añitos). Pero todos nos encariñamos demasiado con Selena, la película nos hizo sentirla tan cerca de nosotros que es por eso que es inevitable apreciarla mucho más que la nueva serie de netflix, que aunque no está mal, personalmente, espero que para la segunda temporada haya más acción y la actriz se desenvuelva más en el papel de Selena 💜

Jlo did a great job but Selena is more graceful. The subtle movements of Selena that makes her unique. When Selena danced to the rhythm, they are very graceful, ladylike. J.Lo's movements to the rhythm was very rough and a bit manly. Even at the end when Selena waved her hand to the crowd, it was so graceful. Meanwhile, J.Lo waved her hand like a little kid 😂 Anyhow, thanks J.Lo for portraying Selena but there will always be only one Selena.

I think it has to do with the fact that Jennifer Lopez is a trained dancer who used to dance for Janet Jackson and on In Living Color. It's hard to unlearn what comes natural to you, so her dance style was bound to pop out. But she did such a great job! You can tell she studied the tape and tried to emulate Selena's movement, so it looked like a real Selena concert, even if she didn't always do the choreography spot on. In that respect, you do get an essence of Selena as a performer. It's hard to imagine anyone else doing a better job than Jennifer did with this role. Just look at how messy El Secreto de Selena looks... I'm praying for Netflix's Selena series.

Amen. Jlo is not a natural dancer. When doing routines, you can see her practically doing the count in her head. Selena was a natural so it just flowed. Jlo is mechanical.
