For those who did not know, the name of "The Magic Circle" does have meaning. The "magic circle" is a theory that applies to any sort of game, Physical or Digital, And can be most related to a contract with the game. It is the rules that it or you set out and your ability to follow them, often for the sake of enjoyment. For example: When you play Uno with your family and everyone agrees that you can stack similar cards, you and your family enter into a Magic Circle. Now with this information and the context of the game you can see how this name fits. "The Magic circle" is a game that has yet to be given rules, There is no Magic Circle, So you make your own by messing with the code and putting it together, All just to enjoy the game. If you want to learn more on The Magic Circle as a concept, I highly recommend "How Inscryption Toys With You" by Daryl Talks Games. He goes more in-depth on how it works by using the magic circle of the game "Inscryption" as an example. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

ohhh huh im kinda curious where the name comes from, since it kinda reminds me of the idea of a summoning circle something where a character would summon a demon and they're bound by a set of rules and/or a contract ...except instead of a demon, the game "summons" _you_

Kojima's 4th wall breaks don't always work for me but seeing Old Snake's psyche meter go up and down in cutscenes always makes me smile and Snake casually pointing at his bandana and saying 'infinite ammo' out of nowhere actually made me laugh out loud, it was so unexpected.
@eden3669

oh wow, suddenly something in this one OTHER game makes sense now in enter the gungeon, theres an item called "ancient hero's bandanna" that quadruples the max ammo capacity for all your guns (reserve ammo, not clip size) and the wiki page says its a metal gear solid reference, but i never really understood it until right now (sidenote, its 4x and technically not infinite, but due to the way gungeon's ammo works its still insanely strong and usually feels like you have infinite ammo anyway)

I am floored by this channel. FUNKe's script and delivery is so good that he doesn't need the animation. This channel is witty enough to succeed with a shitty still-image rantsona, yet FUNKe crafts us a whole cartoon's worth of visual flare with every upload. The passion of this man is inspiring. Also, the subjects of discussion are always unique and interesting as well. This man really does just pick apart with full genuineness random shit he finds interesting about so-and-so video games.

2:02 “L’appel du vide” means “the call of the void”. You know when you’re walking near the edge of a cliff and you think about jumping off, so you get scared? That’s “l’appel du vide”. General consensus is that it’s there so we don’t randomly jump and off ourselves. You’re brain literally scares you out of it.

2:44 "Minimum required events" is actually low%. Any% is beating the game as fast as possible. You'd think they're the same but there's a lot of games where they aren't. For example: the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has one animation that doesn't loop properly, so you can skip some otherwise required stuff by waiting several hours.

One game that perfectly fits in this genre that deserves more recognition is Anodyne by Analgesic Productions. It's a bit spoilers to say, but the game largely plays like a normal Zelda-style action puzzle adventure until you get a literal "game breaking" item that's required to find all the secrets and complete the game proper by exploring outside the confines of the game's wall tiles. It's extremely cool and worth looking into.

Is that supposed to be a good thing? When small indie game characters are obsessed over and seen as people’s pfps all the damn time it kinda repels me from those games, as stupid as it sounds. For instance, One Shot, A Hat in Time, Undertale, and Celeste are all games that I bet are good, I just don’t want to play them because the fans seem way too attached to it and make it their personality. Well, not all fans, but a big enough percentage that it makes me uncomfortable.

@@SmoothTurtle840 It is a good thing. It might be tempting to reject what is popular for the sole reason of it being popular, but you're really doing yourself a disservice by not at least trying them. Good things getting popular is a good thing. It means more money for the developer (meaning more/better games down the line, and potentially updates/DLC for the game), more fan content to enjoy, more people to discuss something you like, more people being inspired by it to make their own things, and the only two downsides are that there are weirdos you can ignore, and you can't think you're special for having played a niche game.

@@SmoothTurtle840 then don't. nobody will care about you making life choices based off of other people's life choices except yourself. you're only hurting yourself. if you want to change that, and do things that you want to do, then make a change. It's not the internet's job to tailor their lives to your comfort, kiddo.

This video was so good, I've been watching it since the second it came out to find out the optimal route. It turns out, all you have to do is progress through the intro as normal until 0:14 , at which point you press J, L, J, L then press 9, then L again and wait through the ending cutscene.

Outer Wilds' "Echoes of the Eye" DLC used wall clipping and graphics failing to load as main mechanics for getting past a certain puzzle. There were clues that this is what you were supposed to do, but most people didn't realize that was what you were supposed to do, because it didn't occur to people that wall clipping could be an intended mechanic.

@@radicularchaos3071 it's rarely brought up, but the few times characters 'heating up' is mentioned it's always very on-the-nose, one such example is a tournament fighter talking to the protaganist about a sparring match to help him get back in shape, he says "No flaming blue death moves!" in reference to the special cutscene attacks you can do in the series, as well as the fire aura that surrounds characters when they're in heat mode that only one protagonist has brought up, and the fanbase theorizes he has schizophrenia.
