The self-mobilization technique for the heel bone is known as the calcaneus. This method targets instances where the back of your foot or heel bone doesn't move as smoothly as it should. If this mobility is compromised, it can affect your walking mechanics and daily activities while on your feet. So, let's work on enhancing that movement.
Remember, keep the arm straight and steady at the ankle to avoid unnecessary foot movement. When you encounter a resistance point, rather than releasing and pressing again, hold that position. Apply slight bouncing movements with your arm to encourage mobility at that end range.
Repeat this process as advised by your physical therapist. For the other side, simply switch your stance-left foot crossing over the right. Your left hand stabilizes the heel, right hand at the ankle, maintaining a straight arm and applying gentle downward pressure with little bouncing movements at the end.
This technique, known as self-mobilization for the calcaneus or rear foot, aims to enhance foot mobility for better walking and daily activities when we're on our feet.
