I started cutting my own hair years ago, after barbershops started taking call-in appointments. The last time I sat in a barber's chair was when I waited all day (literally) to get a haircut. One thing's for sure, I have saved a ton of money and I don't have to listen to all of the gossiping.

@2310sammy You're right and I've saved a lot of time and money. I have known barbers to stop cutting my hair and break for lunch while I was still in their chair. Some have even gone outside to talk and laugh with their friends while I was still sitting in their chair. Those days are completely over!

Excellent tutorial. What's interesting is that the method we've been taught on the barbering course I've nearly finished (on hold due to current lockdown) is no way as straightforward and simple as the one you use. Which just goes to show that sometimes simple and straightforward can be so much better than other, more-complicated methods. Looking forward to the next time I cut hair - I'll be giving this method a go. I like the idea of pushing the skin down to make a bump to help get rid of darker areas. never seen that used before. Thanks for an inspiring video and a very detailed tutorial. Better than some of the tutorials on KZbin by some of the big names. Dave

This was well done! I’ve been cutting my hair for over 15 years and l still seek tips from time to time. But don’t be fooled people! Fading is an ART and it’s not light weight! I would start of easy at first with an all even cut. Master that then try to fade your own hair. I fade my own but l have yet to completely master it. One because it takes awhile and two because it’s very meticulous. Best advice to beginners is if it looks ok STOP THERE! Can’t tell you how many times l tried to fix something that wasn’t broke and made it WORST!

This was sooo helpful thank you! I am going to give my husband a haircut this weekend. I have a question though. On the last step when you blend the line with the 0.5 guard...would it be possible for me to do that with no guard/fully opened if I hold it at an angle and be careful? the smallest guard our little kit comes with is a 1 :(

Thanks for your comment, much appreciated....sounds like u know what you're about 😁 What u mentioned is a technique I'd recommend to everyone, improvise is the way to go - so yes you can do it fully opened at an angle, u sound like a pro lol

Honestly that's how I did all my cuts before buying different guards , using your clippers at an angle can act as a bigger guard...

i am confused as to how the 1.5 is working if he already went over his head with the 1 guard? wouldn't the 1.5 not be cutting any hair since the hair is already as short as the 1 guard? im new to buzzing / cutting hair so forgive me if this question is ignorant
@wiisportsmatt9775

I was wondering that too, i think its because he goes with the grain with the #1 causing it to cut less and he goes against the grain with the #1.5 cutting deeper

Great haircut!!! Question, I thought going against the using that 1.5 into your fade would take more hair off.. now I'm confused lol

How much times do you use that razor? I've been doing my hair and my son for almost a year. I was fed up after I sat for nearly 3 hours for a barber. I sat as I waited, and purchased a clipper. Oh what's that brand too? Thank you
@bamnjphoto
@bamnjphoto 4 жыл бұрын
The brand is Wahl its one of their cheap but decent for home use clippers. I have the same one I brought from Costco a few years ago for about $40 but now you cant find them online during the lockdown. I had my clippers for years but this was the first time I attempted to cut my hair after seeing this, it came out OK looking better than i did before LMAO
