it takes about 100 hours, spread over 4 months, for a young, strong man to get really good at 2 kicks and that's all you need for standup, aware of the guy attacks, on decent flour surfaces, no weapon, one untrained guy, room to move, no obstacles. that's 1 hour per day, 6 days per week, working almost exclusively on ball of the foot front snapkicks at the bladder, and stop kicks at the shins/knees, using the arch/edge of your foot. Stay out of arm's reach and you're MUCH safer, guys. Learn to kick with alternating legs, right, then left while using your fists/forearms to cover your head/ribcage. I was taught to use a modified cat stance in Korea, decades ago. My front leg sidekick to the knee was unavoidable and to your face was almost as fast. Now I'm too old iand lacking in flexibility for side kick or hip-twist roundhouses. My right ankle never did turn all the way in, as my left angle does. My left ball of the foot roundouse , no twist of the hips, can REALLY bend your knee sideways, tho. If that happens, you're on the ground and once there, I can kill you in 1-2 seconds.

6yrs of martial arts( Karate/Judo/Taekwondo). You don't catch a punch. You risk bruising the bones in your hand or breaking it. Deflect the blow.

@@JeffreyParker-ok5edNo catching a punch head on is inadvisable. I recommend you actually talking to a Police officer or Military officer about catching a punch.

14 years of various styles and catching a punch was never advised! Blocking or evading probably the best thing than trying to catch!

What I know is parrying or pressing block perhaps there's a principle of catching the punch however it's still questionable.

@bobbydianuzzo9173 Exactly it's always about deflecting and countering or deflecting and evading. Trying to stop a blow head-on like that Has never been advised. My Karate teacher was an active-duty police officer. And since then I've spared with former military.None recommended catching a punch.

Everybody has been seeing Sean Strickland beat up the navy seal. Although he didn't verbally quit, he did physically quit. My question: How can a non mma pro negate or mitigate the effectiveness of a professional fighter so capable of walking away? And how does a non-professional fighter beat and destroy(extirpate) a professional fighter?

But what if Sean tries to do hell-week Seal training? Take away the cage, gloves, and shin pads. Also what does MMA fighting have to do with this?

Well had a conversation the other day, how do most MMA fighters get stopped (not winning the fight) . It's usually a finger jab and or a kick in the dick! Worth looking at WW2 combatives for every day Joe self-defence.
