That overhand block is you setting up for liver shot,which is one of most intense pains man can suffer.(been there,done that) Also extend your arm fully when throwing jab or cross. Dont tip your head forward,get your whole back down a few degrees,it will help you cover ribs and keep chin tucked. Also never throw overhand in any situation,as you will hit top of head 90% of time and break your wrist plus he has perfect hook to your ribs which is going to make you exale hard and lose breath. If you cant dodge or you are pinned against wall,go in him,he has less power when he cant extend his arm fully. If he goes for double jab take "anti-jab positon" meaning that you pull a bit to opposite side of punch and slip upercut under. From retired boxer :)

Great tips for a Muay Thai, Boxing...MMA student. On the street...not so much...people assume because it works in the ring and it's "real" (full-contact) it should work on the street. Mike Tyson, in a street fight broke his hand...just sayin'... If I were younger and thought I NEEDED to learn "street self-defence" I'd study Pancrase. No closed fists. Therefore less likely to fracture a finger or break a few.

That overhand haymaker is a big NO. His combination is fast, but the margin for error on that particular punch is very high. Not only is he telegraphic that move, thanks to the windup and length of travel, but he's opening his body up to a quicker counter. If you read the book "Fight Like A Physicist" the math came out to about 6 jabs per haymaker in expended time/energy. No serious fighter has this punch in their arsenal for reasons just like this - it's -EV punch. I also highly question the target for the punch. Why not just punch the dude in the elbow if you're intent on breaking your knuckles? I don't question this guy can fight, and seriously doubt those first 2 punches wouldn't accomplish what he set out to do (disable the attacker), however, beginners focusing on throwing a wild-ass haymaker in a downward motion on the top of the skull is just poor form and doesn't make a lot of sense.

Chuck lidell made a career from that punch and dudes have been winning _professional_ fights with it forever. Dan Henderson? This isn't even intended for use against a professional fighter, and as the fourth punch in a combination that may well have already knocked you out, it's pretty safe to throw. I'll bet a big percentage of champion strikers would opt to throw it here as well, or whatever their heaviest, slowest attack is

You can condition your hands with knuckle press ups quite easily.
@stevebb29157 жыл бұрын
exactly. all these specialist techniques tend to go out the window anyway during a fight. and going on evidence, i could show literally thousands of examples of fights being ended with fists, nowhere near as many with palm strikes. so why go against the statistics? Also, who cares if you hurt your hand in a REAL fight? Its not like you'll feel it at the time with adrenaline surging, and it will heal eventually.

Why do you personally put your dominant limbs back, If your right hand is your dominant accurate hand why not go dominant side forward. The twisting motion can still be applied for the cross or reverse punch depending on what you call it. You are stating put the less dominant hand and by dominant i mean attacking blocking most accurate tool in your arsenal not upfront throwing a punch then throwing a another punch with more power with the twisting of the hips with your power hand. I am just curious what is your reasoning for that. If you go power side forward(dominant side) you have your strongest accurate weapons at the ready then with the twisting of the hips and movement can generate power. Power side forwards just seems logical. I mean training both sides of course and training ones less dominant side more.
@eitroo8 жыл бұрын
I think you put your dominant foot to the back because you give your dominant hand more distance for acceleration and a more powerful punch.
@edwinn48228 жыл бұрын
+Shplawke by putting your less dominant hand behind you keep a weapon that is more accurate and powerful your dominant hand forward. then with the body rotation can deliver a strong cross. If power side forward with a 1,2 jab cross your jab is better cuz it's up best and on the cross is even more powerful. if you do boxing way put your less dominant side forward your jab is not as good but your cross is great. Doesn't it make sense to give your weapons ie limbs the best tactical placement

What if I'm left handed, fighting someone who's right handed?
@johnradford59045 жыл бұрын
The thing is I would only recommend anyone with power who doesn’t have hand conditioning only punching to the body. Even top boxers who know how to throw a punch, like say Tyson or whoever, when they got into street fights they seem to of injured their hands after hitting to the head. If you have thrown your first punch and broke your hand, especially without it finishing that person off your in trouble. Also this is why jujitsu is a great art, why destroy something when it can be controlled.

5:26 theres a problem with this move cause the feet in the back is the one making the balance if u twist it .u’ll give ur opponent to make u fall by stepping on ur feet and dogding ur punch at the same time. I may be wrong hes the proffenial one but pls correct me if im wrong

You probably won't notice until after the fight. I broke two knuckles, a wrist, and had a big cut on my head and had no clue. I was totally calm and clear headed, too, but that adrenaline rush is powerful
@iveywood43265 жыл бұрын
The first thing my instructor taught me is that self defense hurts for both parties. The best you can do is hold a proper fist, keep your wrist straight and don’t overextend the arm. If you’ve ever been punched in the head, you would know how effective it is at stopping attacks which is why we do it despite all the bone. If you break something, you break something but at least you would have gotten out of a far worse situation.

@willaimrobinson93832 жыл бұрын
First off "the power dominant hand back" is wrong. power side forward provides equal power strikes from either hand. Second, "stance is static" but foot work must be "alive and not stationary. next a "hands up guard" is good, but by its very nature is telegraphing and that degrades visual speed. Lastly these are all boxing-based techniques and boxing is very good hand system. but they are all head shots when mid body and liver shots usually end the confrontation in just one shot.

Guys, whatever you do, don't listen to this guy, all he knows is boxing moves which are not affective against real-world scenarios. There are laws preventing you from using "excessive force" on a attacker so you can't do these techniques on a real attacker, what you want to do is, 1. Run 2. subdue the attacker
