Thanks for a timely video. Since I had a sadist for a parent and now I’m really stuck in freeze response with my whole life- I thought maybe I was a masochist and I should try BDSM to be a masochist in one aspect of my life only and not my whole damn life. Well seems I’m probably self destructive (but maybe it’s just affecting me and not others), a good thing to know before letting someone beat me. I did read a tiny bit about BDSM and it said not to try to use it for therapy. But I’m a scapegoat and getting desperate to figure out how to heal. Not easy when now the family of origins efforts to engage my own children are bearing fruit and therapists like those suggested by Rebecca Mandeville can’t be found where I am. Are there any good online resources or therapy for FSA survivors? Dr VAknin did a video on 11:15, I think, that described pretty well my (yes now I believe criminally dangerous) family of origin. Ending saying something to the effect that scapegoats are permanently broken. Or that’s how I heard it. Because that’s how I’m experiencing it but dammit I am determined to figure it out. I’d gladly let someone beat me up if that would work…. Help

Are only some borderlines masochistic at times--& others are more self-destructive? And if a narcissist collapses into a borderline, is he less likely to become masochistic than someone with a primary borderline self state? And I suppose there are the different variants of NPD to consider, too.

Borderlines and narcissists are overwhelmingly self-destructive, not masochistic.
