When computers were introduced in the late 90s, many thought that it will lead to mass joblessness. However, imagine if we hadn't taken that leap back then. Innovation cannot be stifled by saying "Mein aane nai dunga India mein toh". History says that every new technology brings with itself newer kind of jobs. Those who adapt to the new normal will win. Sooner or later, one will have to adopt the innovations that lead to better efficiency. Evolution cannot be held back. But it is for us to decide whether we'll be market makers/leaders or followers.

I am one of the 2nd category - I hate driving cars - especially on Indian roads - Even though I own a car , I usually just let others drive - or take a cab... I only drive if its an emergency and no one else is available... For people like me - this innovation is really valuable.... I hope this will be incorporated step by step in India... 1) First start using this inside huge private campuses - Universities, Tech park , where usually there are vehicles that drive high ranking individuals around... 2) Then start using it in Airports for carrying passengers between terminals - Minimal traffic 3) Then start using it for buses running on designated Bus-Only lane - where there is little scope of other vehicles interfering... 4) If found succesful , start trials for taxis - in dedicated routes (With excellent network coverage)... 5) Slowly expand - and if all is well - start private as well... It might take years - But this is definitely the future

Nice video and covered several points well. I just wanted to add that self driving cars for personal use has been launched in 2021 (Mercedes Obtaining SAE Level 3 certification) & BMW obtained Hands off option - 130 KM/H in Mid 2021. I also agree that driving a car is enjoyable experience but occasionally I feel this option is good alternative in case you are exhausted/ sleepy and these functions can drive it for you. I think its a personal choice since I am sure you will agree that no one enjoys stuck in traffic for 2-3 hrs. Also, Mercedes solution is more designed for city traffic conditions (max speed 60KM/H). BMW is working to obtain certification for their Level 3 project

I think there is still a good market for driverless car in India. If any understands and observes carefully that in cities trucks are not allowed during day time while in the nights it is fully ok (legally ok) to pass through cities. The same way, driverless cars can be a fantastic solutions for after working hours driving (say from 10pm) onwards to say 5:00pm driving. Because drivers who work late night have a heavy toll on their health which can be avoided with this. Also, there are many riders who want to catch a flight either late night or early morning. Here too it makes the service available without any strain on the health of the drivers. Also, in certain situations while driving or parking the cars, the cab drivers are attacked by local rowdies or gangs and looted. This too can be avoided. So there is a market for driverless car. It is upto us to find it and address.

Autonomous cabs may not be suitable for India where many people rely on driving cabs for employment. Given the road rage prevalent in India, it is challenging to operate autonomous cabs here. As our Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari ji stated, this will impact the lives of professional cab drivers. They support their family by driving cabs. I believe India should not adopt the idea of self-driving cabs. This could impact the lifestyle of cab drivers and adversely affect their families.

Self driving car is not practically possible in india because we know how people drive on roads. It is better to jump to air taxis in big cities like Hyderabad, mumbai, banglore and new cities etc.. Many companies in india already built air taxis and in testing stage. In one or two years air taxis will get permission for commercialisation .

Technology is not the enemy... I think we should embrace self driving cars as it will -> Unclog our road(as people will buy less cars and use more robo taxis), -> Increase safety(No rash driving), -> Less waste of time in traffic as the cars will talk to each other and can get through the crossing traffic by precise control of speed, -> Best fuel economy (No heavy SUV needed to take 80kilo human from point A - B) -> 200KM Range would be enough for a long drive taxi as other fully charged taxi can wait and complete rest of the journey by picking the passenger after first taxi range exhausted. -> Best utilization will keep the environment healthy. And about the job of Trucker & Cabbies ? They are gone anyway with ours as we are progressing with AI.... Which makes me wonder if we even need to travel anymore. No Job = No Business = No Travel = No Cab ... May be we need some trucks or trains in future
@pratyushmahato35506 сағат бұрын
My 2 cents ..I believe there's no point in fighting upcoming technology. Cause sooner or later India would have to adopt a mass prevalent system and cant go agianst the tide..... So we should encourage limited scale development even if only for export purpose or something.... Future won't be gracious

The point that driving a car is an experience etc is not a valid argument cos self driving cars are not targeted towards people who enjoy driving. Self driving taxis operated by a trusted company once perfected can be way more safer for women too to travel.

The issue of jobs can be solved fairly easily, get the list of drivers, put a tax on automated taxies for 15 years and use that tax to compensate the drivers for 15 years. This will also free up the drivers to take up other work, and the enterprising ones will actually generate more income. The government can also treat it like a salary and create a PPF investment for them. The benefits of automated driving, especially in countries like India where lakhs of people die or get injured every year due to accidents, pathetic traffic due to unorderly driving and of course higher fuel expenses are just too many to ignore. It might also bring down other expenses like Insurance and even toll, boosting savings. As for people loving the thrill of driving, you can always have designated areas where you can go and experience that thrill. Just not everyday commute, since it's the other people that pay the price for someone's thrill in our country.

The reason why Indian politicians dont want driverless cars here is because most of them are themselves taxi and auto union leaders. Others own these transporter companies which run taxis and autos. The primary drover of employment should be manufacturing. If Mr Gadkari and his govt create manufacturing jobs, and have to worry about loss of taxi driver jobs, it speaks a lot about them. Anyways, once the tech matures, it will come to India. It will start with taxis with a driver sitting behind the wheel but driving autonomously. The driver will be able to take more trips with little tiredness. The per trip cost would be less, and eventually others would be forced to adopt them

Aapki vids laagi achi hoti hai. Lekin Tesla, FSD aur in general unke software suite mai usually boht Kam research rehti hai. Pata nehi kyu. Tesla game mai kaafi aage hai. FSD 12.5.6 filal chal rahi hai Tesla ki gadiyo mai. Tesla ke paas more than 1 bil miles driven ka data hai. Tesla vision only system pe rely karta hai, no lidar no radar. Cruise aur Waymo geographically fenced hai, aur pre mapped routes pe chalte hai. China ka bhi same hai. Tesla ki inference compute on car sabse zada hai, kyuki wo khud apni chips banate hai. Tesla ke pass sabse bada data aur cost advantage hai. Ek FSD wali video dekh lijiye, aapko samajh aajaega

AI ne jobs khana shuru kar diya, driverless cars, humaless malls and airports, station and tolls, every poor person is doomed!
