You don't mention how far from the line of vehicules you have to be to engage in perpendicular parking.

I was shopping for a minivan and saw this feature, so came here looking to see what it does. Why does it make you back up towards the corner of a parked car instead of just pulling forward first, and backing it up in one go? LOL seems like a feature I would never use.
