Chain Tensioner & Timing Chain Noise.

All Motorcycles and Scooter Engines are fitted with Timing Chain. These Chains Elongates with Time. To Maintain the proper Timing Chain tension And prevent chain noise ,Engines are fitted with Timing Chain Tensioner.

@@evening1457 what bike it is? Do you hear the noise while idling or revving? And the noise must come from the top part of engine if it's the chain tensioner thing.. in some cases, the culprit might be the shims as well. So , need to know what bike you've got

@@privatesmoke Thank you very much on a fast reply.. I have got yamaha wr125x it is a 4 stroke motorcycle. It sounds like the noise is coming up from the top. The sound does not dissapear when the engine heats. If you have an email I would be very happy to send you the video or I could upload it on my youtube channel.

@@evening1457 dunno why my previous comment didn't showed up (might be coz I inserted my email id) ... This looks like the tappet noise .. when engine oil is thick you won't hear it because the thick oil cushions the metal parts coming in contact with each other... But when the engine warms up, the oil becomes thinner and the free play between the metal parts coming in contact makes this noise.. check your rocker arms and camshaft for damages, if damaged, replace them.. check your valve clearances... Also, just to cover all the bases , get a new chain tensioner installed.. check the spark plugs once as well just in case . If possible, get a second opinion from a local trusted mechanic as well... Hope that helps

I own a cbr 250r and done 16k kms till now. I am getting some sort of noise (exactly don't know from where) whenever I accelerate or change gear and accelerate or if keep throttle steady. I have changed the clutch basket,clutch plates. Rocker, shims are also fine. But the noise is still there and bike also isn't as smooth as other cbr 250r in comparison. Bit vocal as revs climbs. Please do let me know what could be issue and what can be done.

There is a coin rattling noise in Yamaha FZ25. This rattling noise comes only when you increase rpm to 4000 and above. Is that reason to think timing chain tensioner problem?
