I take the compression tester with me when I am buying something people say "doesn't run". Especially quads that are beat up. It is such an easy test when buying to confirm at least the motor isn't blown. If not blown, it is always electrical or fuel which aren't hard to troubleshoot. Good job on this one!!

@Great Horned Owl So many people won't listen to or read detailed descriptions in ads. I always am honest in what I sell even down to the last detail, but mostly, I get things completely squared away in order to get the best outcome for both sides of a sale. Sometimes when you get one screw to turn it helps to put it back in and tighten it back down (oil the threads just in case) and it’ll take pressure off of the other screw and make it easier to turn. This works for manifolds and stuff too.

Tip for bleeding the brakes. You may have heard before. But grab the correct diameter clear tubing from a hardware store. Put it over the bleeding nipple and you can see the air and run the fluid through the hose into a drain pan. Doesn’t get fluid everywhere and you can see the air bubbles.

Found a useful fact when dealing with brake fluid: The DOT 3 is a glycol-based type of fluid and is backward compatible with the DOT 4 and DOT 5.1. But is not compatible with DOT 5 brake fluid. Don't use DOT 5 on ANY brake system unless a manual specifically states to use it. DOT 5 screws up the rubber components in most brake systems.

The air in the line is from when before the brake fluid was added, hence burping/bleeding the system. Similar to a burping the coolant system. Air is not gonna push its way through the top of the brake fluid reservoir, past all the thick brake fluid just to enter the lines again.

Very good Mr Fish. I am now a subscriber to you channel. Those tyres are looking to be a winner for Dunlop. My mates son is Chris Moss and he reviewed the same tyres on the Carole Nash channel and raved about them. Cheers. I going to fit them on my Suzuki xf650.

No time to fix this? Simply spend a day going through everything that all you have to do. Except for the great knowledge and persistence of a great mechanic you are obviously a labour of love. Well done😊

One question why would you install a switch when you could have ordered a starter relay from some place for about $10-15 and fix it properly???

another tip for getting the front brake screws out, you can get a small chisel and hammer it into the head of the screw and get a flat head and back it out

Enjoy your blogs. For all the times you have to cross the solenoid terminals, why not make up a push button switch with a couple of alligator clips on it, about 5 feet long ?

To properly fix the starter circuit, you need the starter cutout relay, which is a very common Asian style 4 pin relay normally open. Plenty of asian vehicles use that kind of relay. That relay closes when transmission is in neutral. It's purpose is to avoid starting the engine with quad on gear. Get a relay, then troubleshoot wiring if needed.

Starting circuit cutoff relay is that 4 pin plug hanging around on the rear of the quad.

Joe why do you pump and hold the brake and then tighten the bleeder .and repeat .your way of doing it is just letting it suck air back into the line.

These days the use of a fuel stabilizer is essential. Especially in seasonal-use equipment. I even add an ounce to every fill on my 5 gallon can despite using only non-oxy fuel. Literally an ounce of prevention.
