Personally, I consider a console to be "tested" only if someone spends a few hours playing games on it to make sure it doesn't overheat, the disk drive is ok, weird stuff like at 14:58 doesn't happen, that it connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (if applicable) and doesn't loose connection, etc. etc. Basically, that all of the functions of the device work as expected/from factory, and no components are missing. Plugging in a power cable and pressing the eject button to check if it at least gets power would be the bare minimum that I would expect someone to do (even if the item is sold as "untested"), otherwise the item should be sold as faulty/for spares or repairs. Technically you can interpret "untested" as untouched, but I'd much rather get a console that at least powers on and doesn't have a game in it, than one that doesn't work at all.

I don't mean to sound like a critic but taking "Free" games out before selling to you doesn't mean they are tested. You demonstrated in the video yourself that all you need to do is supply power and press eject. Just because a possible disc ejected doesn't mean the system automatically worked. There are tons of things that could be wrong with a Wii but still allow you to remove discs. If this was a Wii Mini and they popped the top open and took the disc out, does that mean its tested? of course not.

Not only that, but they might have just powered it on and popped out any disk without ever hooking up a monitor. If that is the case: powered on yes, but tested no. Even if they hooked up a monitor they may not have did anything but pop out a disk, so still untested.

Huh? Powering on a console and popping out a disc is absolutely not untested 😂 plugging in a console is testing it - doesn't mean it's a full functionality test. But it's still testing. Like I said in the video, it's not even about the free discs - I'll be fine without them lol. It's just like #1 pet peeve of mine when sellers lie in their listings. ebay sellers do it all the time calling broken stuff "untested"

@@jrob0021 I agree with you that when something is marked as untested it is more than likely broken and I assume that when making a purchasing decision. I know eBay's policy on untested means that the item has something missing making you unable to test the item and Goodwill should have followed that guideline. I imagine that whomever put in the listing should have put powers on but functionality untested, but my guess is that the people entering the items are either overwhelmed with the amount of items to add and to make it easier and they just put untested or could just not be aware of eBay's definition of untested (not properly trained or new). It could be the higher up's just don't care, unfortunately we will probably never know.

I bought a Gamecube recently. It said it was tested but also listed for parts/repair. When I inquired as to what issues with it that they were aware of (I would expect them to post the issues if it was tested) they went back and removed the tested marker. I did buy it but I undercut them as it wasn't tested and I didn't know what I was getting. Turned out the memory card ports didn't work due to a corroded ribbon and port. Fixable? Maybe. I did get an optical drive from it that's actually in great condition.

Just imagine if they release a Nintendo Wii memorial edition. It should look just like the original launch white Wii which will include HDMI, it will come with every Wii game built in, well not every Wii title; only the most popular Wii games such as Wii sports and sports resort, Mario Zelda etc, all games remastered in 1080p. The Wii menu will look the same but it will be in 1080p as well. It will come with all of the original channels but remastered. Including the weather. It should have KZbin channel and Hulu etc just like Xbox and ps5. So basically just like how hey rereleased the NES and SNES

What Untested means in as far as a console is considered could be up for debate, for me at least checking to see if a game is inside isn't the same as testing it for full functionality. Untouched would be more like what Jrob views as untested. You can check to see if a game is inside with out connecting it to a tv.

I really don’t get what the point of the Intercut you did earlier in the video was. You basically just told us how you tell if there’s a free game or not, and you’ve been doing these series of untested consoles and such for over a year now, finding free games in Wii’s etc. Why did you feel the need to use an Intercut to tell us that? I mean I pretty clearly explained this situation in the video. I don’t understand what people aren’t getting about this. I’ve literally purchased and tested hundreds of untested Wiis at this point, and have a success rate of free game of like 50-75% (% from the hip). 10 untested Wiis in a row without a game is literally not possible if these are actually untested lol. And all of them worked? These were very clearly tested with games removed. I’m not worried about losing out on a few cheap games. It’s fun for the video but trust me it’s not hurting me. I just can’t stand sellers lying in listings.

What about 48 hours? What denotes a tested console? What if regular games work but for some reason, certain backwards compatible ones don't because they didn't test every game variety on the market? Has it now never been tested? Your arbitrary lines of what denotes tested or not mean nothing. Untested means nothing has been tested. Including the operation of the disc tray.
