@@ea_naseer A good rule of thumb is that anything you just * run * is going to be on the CPU. You usually have to actually write the processes you want running on the GPU because they are very specialized. Shaders that come packaged with the engine or that are written in HSL or some other supported shading language will run on GPU, but you can also totally do this incorrectly on accident. It turns out parallel processing is actually kind of complicated and requires a lot more book-learning than basic programming logic for physics and such. Most things you can figure out with enough practice because they are not inherent to any system, so you just slap some code together and it gets processed on the CPU. Anyways... This is just a long way of saying I don't think the dev has demonstrated that they have the patience to do anything in an optimized or hardware-accelerated way lol

tldr: The crashing isn't actually the game dev's fault. It's an error that either Epic or Nvidia has to fix. Fun fact, that "UE4 error - fatal crash" Isn't new. It started happening 5 or 6 months ago during Nvidia's last patch. I got it on just about every Unreal Engine 4 game I tried to run. Games like Conan Exiles and Those Nights at Rachel's don't work anymore. Go try playing an UE4 game, I guarantee you'll get the same error. Neither updates to Windows or Unreal Engine itself have fixed the issue. No idea why it hasn't been addressed, but boy as a small entry level game dev it really pisses me off. I don't even know what could cause this issue. I've emailed Nvidia several times and have gotten no response. No real surprise there tbf.

@@dudeguy8553 Not surprising, that it’s just stolen assets, but I believe that my point about most HUDs these days being lifeless and uninspired is even stronger, because even throwing a bunch of assets into a bowl still somehow looks better than, for instance: *Wreckfest* (love this game, but the HUD/UI looks very boring and uninspired), *Battlefield 2042* (haven’t played Battlefield, but I believe that I can still criticize the HUD and the UI, which in its core looks very similar to Wreckfest’s with the exception that it’s green instead of white).

A lot of things lack distinct shapes, textures, or even color choices. I do like minimal UIs that I think are done well though, sort of like Left 4 Dead 1 and 2.

@@dudeguy8553 I haven't played any L4D games either, but seen countless gameplay videos, the HUD in that game is really good, compliments the style of the game perfectly, meanwhile this minimalist trend (which I really hate) to me just looks soulless (again, BF 2042 Paint 3D rectangle), but you can't blame the devs for this at all (AAA industry, not indie), because there is so much that goes to game development process, so to create something great - you need time, and AAA games have deadlines which can SEVERLY limit what the game can really be; there is too much to discuss about the AAA game industry though.

For the battle royale, they didn’t even change the default shooting sound of UE4. they literally just got the shooter template, made some basic multiplayer, did some asset flips and called it a day.
