I have a '17 Colorado ZR2 V6 and believe me I was contemplating in trading it in for the Silverado ZR2 but like you it's going to be expensive. You have a pretty unique vehicle where you have the Duramax turbo diesel and You can't beat the MPG. Well I'm torn however with all your mods, I would keep the ZR2 🇺🇲

Been watching your channel since I bought my baby max ZR2 in January. Stole a couple of your ideas and appreciate your video on the shift knob swap. It helped me do mine easily. I agree with everything you are saying and was considering the silverado zr2 as well. But I'm also hearing some cool things about the 2023 ZR2... 😏

Been watching your channel since you got the ZR2 around the same time my Z71. Love the size and versatility of these trucks. If the new Silverado comes out get it. The market for used trucks is inside now sell while the market is up. Thanks for then content.

The blacked out Duramax badge looks so good! It really completes the front of the truck. I'd love to see you go all out with the Colorado and do roof rack and all that but I think a Silverado build would be great too. The interior redesign they did last year is amazing and was way past due.

I started here for the Duramax ZR2 videos, i'm purchasing mine Tuesday (in this market, i know). Hope whatever you decide man you're happy. I think the ZR2 with the duramax is the perfect truck (just like you stated). Content wise the silverado will be a gold mine.

I would keep the zr2, definitely looks sexy and a lot of work was put into it. I have a 2018 gmc canyon crew cab v6 slt long bed and I'm just starting to put mods in it. 👍

Mistake selling the diesel Colorado, if anything you should get the Colorado Bison with a diesel. would be wayyyy better than the silverado or even the 2023 colorado. Would be great to see the bison on some trails and a build around that! I will continue to encourage that choice..........................

New Colorado is coming out soon I would wait.. it’s the new gen . 2023 . 33’s- shocks are relocated above axle ,I’m getting one depending on how it looks :) I own a 2021 zr2 now

How did you get your egt to read with the banks dash? Mine had a constant temp of 1100ish or something like that

It's built into the factory ECU, just have to find the right setting on the Banks unit.

What was your best avg mpg in this truck with your tune ? Wondering if it would be better than the new 2.7 inline 4 turbo charge in the 3rd gen

Way better than a 2.7 gas. I think my best sustained on the highway was over 35mpg.

I would just keep the ZR2 minimax. The Sliverado has the 6.2 V8 and that engine has problems tho man!! I do understand you want a dessert runner. Y not just get another Colorado zr2 gasser and put a supercharger on it? Keep up the videos man!!! 👍👊

It can't have as many problems as the diesel Colorado, right? After all it's a simple small block V8. And instead of the gas Colorado ZR2, I'd rather V8 swap one.

I had an 18 zr2 traded for a 20 Silverado I went back to a 22 zr2 we loved the 18 zr2 more after we had the Silverado.

I'd only ditch it if you have a guaranteed Silverado ZR2. I like my diesel for the daily driver aspect and towing toys it does perfectly. You brought up its sluggish which is true and the interior blows which is also a good point. Then again your BMW seems to check the need for speed requirement. I personally wouldn't swap unless I had the ZR2 Silverado in the bag and I'd want it Diesel to boot if they even offer that option.

The slowness doesn't really bother me TBH, you're right I have a car that has more speed / power. The interior is it's biggest drawback, second is technology. Only 1 camera, no front or rear sensors, no auto cruise control, small interior screen, the list goes on and on.

I've got a 2020 zr2 v6 and could very easily get the new silverado zr2. I genuinely prefer the colorado because of its size, and I actually offroad it a lot in moab. I wouldn't take that silverado on any actual trails, so it wouldn't be practical. But if I was going to daily it and just do some overlanding, I would get the silverado

I sold my zr2 duramax colorado and will be definitely purchasing the silverado zr2 but I hope I'm patient enough for a duramax silverado zr2. It has to be an available option down the road. They did it with the trailboss to offer the 3.0 duramax for 2022

I am doubting they will offer the 3.0 in the ZR2. Too low of a take rate and too slow IMO, even though I would love it.

I think they are claiming the intercooler piping and such doesn’t fit with the ZR2 front end. At least that’s what they did with the Z71 Tahoe.

Could go for the At4 with the 3.0 diesel. Crazy $$ but if I had the money, its what I would do. I'll stick with my v6 bison for a couple more years and maybe try to pick one up used.

Did you see the new AT4X? Starts at $75K!! Funny story, I actually really wanted a new Silverado with the 3.0 and that was the plan. Then I realized NO ONE makes aftermarket parts for those engines :(

@@matt13ross Yeah, I love the AT4X but I don't think the 3.0 is being offered, just the 6.2 like the zr2, and I don't have an extra mortage laying around for one lol. I didn't realize the aftermarket support was so bad. Definitely something to consider. I think I'm still a few years away from a new truck, only 33k on my truck right now, 2019. Still a lot to build on it as well.

Trust me I will have another HD diesel on the channel. I actually like them more than offroad trucks. I've had 2 2500 Duramaxs and now the Colorado Duramax. I'm thinking 2023 Silverado 2500 with the new interior and engine.

I came to this channel to determine if I wanted the duramax or v6 Colorado and have since decided on the duramax and have test drove both truck configurations and im sold on the 2.8l .. if you do sell that one you have let me know what you need to get for it, I wouldn't mind buying it with several things already done that I won't have to. But I have another yr or so before buying, I like to do the research and testing well in advance before I need the vehicle so it also depends on when/if you sell/trade in. (I'd like to keep watching the ZR2 duramax Colorado on the channel tho just my opinion)

Will dealerships near you take a “tuned” truck in on trade? The only places near me are privately owned and try to non-consent-prison-style people. The only exception is if you’ve got the stock pipes then they’ll take the truck and make it stock and flash the ECU. Regardless, the EPA sux and it’s just a money grab, but I digress 🤣

I agree with Don, a lot of dealerships like stock vehicals. Smal changes are usually fine but saying how much you've done try different places like coloradofans or fb market. On terms on the zr2 full size it really depends what you want out of the truck. Do u want the silverado just to have a full size? My family has both full sizes and mid and my father likes only driving the silverado when he needs it for loads otherwise he asks for my co.
