WHAT SOLD & HOW MUCH | ESTATE SALE RESULTS | VINTAGE ANTIQUES & MORE
Ten days of prep, and it’s estate sale time! Tour the house with us and see how the hoard is tamed, priced and ready to sell…then walk through with us for the aftermath, where we show what’s left and talk about what happens after we sell all the good stuff!
This video gives lots of tips, clues and pricing for estate sales, showing how a house looks when it’s ready for the public to come and shop. The first part is a sneak peek, where you get to see how we set prices when we have a whole house full to sell in just three days.
Vintage patio chairs for $75? Porcelain sets for $35? Childhood toys for $5? Estate sales offer bargain shopping before things hit the thrift stores, and both resellers and the collecting public benefit from seeing a whole house full of memories priced to sell. Some of this house turns out pretty (the upstairs is a boutique in and of itself!), some turns out fun, and all of it turns out to be packed full of finds on the eve of the sale.
Fast forward a few days, and the house looks much lighter than it started! The big cabinets and worn furniture remain (along with items the client overpriced with reserves), but the remarkable part is that there’s 75% less in the home than when we started just 10 days ago. We tour one last time so you get the full story about what sold, what didn’t and why, and leave satisfied that a massive hoard boils down to just enough stuff for a final (cheap) garage sale and donations to worthy charities. The smart resellers picking the sale leave a lot of humdrum items worth only a few dollars…I’d avoid the nearby thrift stores for awhile after the rest is donated!
Here’s some of what we see in this estate sale before and after:
Sports pennants, car badges, Swarovski prisms, Japanese flag, lighter collection, pellet gun, horn, stereo cards, brass medals, s&p sets, teapots, vintage hats, metal file drawers, Russian rug, cocktail shaker, Russian books, Shearwater pottery, handcuffs, oil paintings, rods and reels, etc.

Funny story..... there is a chirping fire alarm in this video. We had to replace a battery in one of ours yesterday and while watching this video we kept pausing trying to find which of our other alarms also needed a new battery..... ended up replacing ALL of the batteries! Once back to the video... we kept hearing the occasional chirp... DUH... it was in the video! Oh well.... it needed to be done. Perhaps George just saved our lives.... LOL. Love your videos.

That is funny and thank you for the chuckle. The smoke alarm in our kitchen is so sensitive that even cooking can set it off. So now it sits on top of the refrigerator and when cooking sets it off, we take it outside to calm down. And we lower the heat on the cooking pot.

This really turned out great in the end. Puts me in mind of one estate sale I took my mom to downtown. The family owned 5 houses on one property and they were all full to the gills. I kept thinking the lady never missed a sale, clothing, cloth, purses, shoes, food you name it she had it. The last day they had a push, pull, or drag sale. Everything you could get across that line in one fell swoop $10, My little PT was stuffed lol. Inside and outside, put mom in the car and put more stuff in where she was. Had so much fun that day, was a great time. You have a great day,

general estate sale strategies...I sell tons of stuff by doing well marked box lots....when the sale is over if you contact folks who have spaces in antique malls I sell entire rooms of stuff for one price........everybody wins.....left over furniture sells quickly via market place of craigslist....as far as letting go of things....you have to accept that some people will get steals...not just deals in order to clear out a house.....and wishing you a Merry Christmas.....!

We don't do Estate sales in Australia. I thought it was a good idea until I found out the way some of them are run (not you George 😁). But yours look perfectly legit 👍

Thanks for your colossal efforts George. I recently had to change the battery on my smoke alarm in my home. That chirping alarm, that was present throughout your estate sale videos, was exactly the same as what I experienced when I put the wrong brand of battery in my device! In tiny writing , under the lid of the smoke alarm, it stated that it must be a Duracel or Energiser battery,& I had inserted a No Name one. The penalty was a device that chirped at me ,every 40 seconds, for nearly an hour, till I worked out the error. It must have been very frustrating for all concerned to have that going on in the background, for two weeks!

Hi, George. I have heard about you from Jocelyn The Crazy Hat Lady and have enjoyed your Estate Sale so much. I have given you a thumbs up and subscribed. I love Estate Sales but at the same time they make me very sad to see a family's lifetime collection of memories and belongings and that breaks my heart. I am 69 and ill and one day soon I am going to have to do this and I loved the way and you and your crew treated all the items with such love and respect. I live in Miami, Florida, do you come down this far? I don't have any junk but I do have a couple of rooms full of books and sewing related stuff like 11 sewing/embroidery machines and six large armoires full of cotton fabrics, etc I was so touched with your great care and respect that if anyone needs to sell all my stuff, I would feel so much better if you did it. That not going to be for a while yet, but I will keep your information for future use. Thank you, George. May God bless you and yours and I wish you a Blessed and Prosperous New Year full of health. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, nice to see your comment. I generally don't buy before the sale, it creates a conflict of interest...if there's just a lot of the same thing, then I'll make an exception if the client and I agree first. It is a conflict unless arranged prior to the sale with the family directly. I usually don't buy out of my sales until everyone else has had a chance to buy it, unless there's just multiples of the same thing enough for everyone to have

When will your next KY sale be? I love the riverboat casino in Indiana that I believe is not too far frI'm you, and much closer to me than FL. I'd love a road ASAP lol. Cabin fever is sitting in. BTW, I wouldn't hate it if you had to bring the Russian tea set with the pumpkin color applied back to KY. I'm digging that set.
@TheAntiqueNomad
@TheAntiqueNomad 3 жыл бұрын
I thought that was the best set and unfortunately so did the buyer! It went to a good home. I hope to have an estate sale in KY this spring. You can go to Western Kentucky Estate sales website to sign into my email just and I'll notify you when

@@TheAntiqueNomad Will do. Look forward to it. BTW, I lust of many pieces of glass, but a tea seat has never been one of them. Don't drink the stuff, or coffee. However, that one...hmm. I think these days I'm digging that Finland/New Finland/Norway..you know...the lines. And I'm Hillbilly Boho, go figure. The aging process is a trip lol. Thx for responding George.
