Great video, uncle Todd, leaned a whole lot! There is one question I would love to ask you: do you think it is worth to train with grippers to for open toproll and kingsmove? You often do kick your hand back with these techniques, so maybe it is nice to put some extra brakes on your opponents pronation?
@toddhutchings906Ай бұрын
I do not believe you should train with grippers. That is also the prevailing wisdom. You need wrist strength more than anything.

I don't argue that you don't get stronger each week, but, have you tried to make you pbs with a week or two off before? I would actually think you could do even more then, and you most certainly could do them a couple of times extra close to the same weight if you are fully recovered, tendons and ligamets takes a couple of weeks to recover. I really think at least 2 weeks of will make you a stronger more enduring armwrestler, with many many years of training you wont get any stronger at the table from one week of training, maybe in the gym with a rotating workout, but I have a hard time believing that training the week before is better than resting.
@toddhutchings906Ай бұрын
Ligaments and tendons do not require 2 weeks of recovery. If they did, Armwrestlers would only train every 2-3 weeks.

Todd, why not train your shoulders with the bar behind your neck? I am a flexible person and it is my favorite movement for shoulders in general, doesn't it go well with armwrestling?
@toddhutchings906Ай бұрын
Shoulders are very complex with their 3 heads. Movements with the bar behind the head risk injury. Shoulder injuries are likely the second most common arm wrestling injury.
@MANG00JАй бұрын
It should be noted though that training grip/squeezing strength can be hugely beneficial depending on your style of pulling and how you approach hand control. Having a strong grip will never have a negative impact on your arm wrestling.
@toddhutchings906Ай бұрын
All strength is good. The time spent training squeezing grip strength could be better used for improving arm wrestling.

I can't help but notice there's not a whole lot about wrist pain and rehab. For years I've struggled with intermittent pain on the back of my wrist, usually in line with the index finger or at the base of the thumb. The pinky side of the wrist also cracks hard when I push on the front of it. Combination of manual labour and armwrestling. Ended up taking an indefinite leave from pulling because of it. I can sorta do general training around the issue but it's never really gone away . Do you recommend any specific protocol for that?
@toddhutchings906Ай бұрын
I haven’t done a lot on rehab, I really haven’t been asked. Wrist pain is rare, when I have encountered it in myself or others it usually stems from strain placed on fingers. Usually flat handles, or jarring motions encountered like hammering or concrete demolition. Wrist would be tricky to rehab, I would suggest rice bucket work. For arm rehab I would recommend pullups, kettle bell swings, shoulder work and the ever present JM Press.
@TheUnchainedMindАй бұрын
@@toddhutchings906 Right on the money with the hammering. I'll give rice bucket a try, thanks for the suggestion. Best of luck in your training.

@ Nothing spins, let alone spins multi 😂
@EvolutionaryE15 күн бұрын
@@toddhutchings906 would you agree there are multiple ways to hold the multispinner? Would you agree that when holding the multispinner as it is typically used, one of the forces you are resisting is a rotational/torque force trying to “spin” the handle? But a much more interesting question is: what would uncle Todd rename the “multispinner”?
@toddhutchings90615 күн бұрын
@ I like what you are doing here. But, spin, is colloquially accepted as meaning motion, as opposed to torque, which is a turning force but does not require motion. I would call it Molly, but marketing would change it to something involving , torque, wrist, arm wrestling, training. Probably end up with TorqueWrist or TorkRist or TorqReest 😂
@drkdrk7Ай бұрын
Uncle Todd, it's me again, I'm apologising, but i have a thought. I have a question about the Devon's riser pull. I think it's stupid 😂. The lever consists of 2 links where the force comes from: the wrist and the radial. Both together. But the radial is much stronger than the wrist abduction, so both links need to be strengthened separately, each link with the corresponding load value. That's why I ask you to make a video on the physics of armwrestling.
