The Sena R1 Evo has been super popular in our shop so we figured we would make a video discussing the product and it’s benefits. The new Sena R1 Evo has been particularly popular due to its lower price point and updated design. We hope you enjoy!

I had their first iteration and I was amazed how well it cut out the wind noise when I spoke. Was a bit hard to do audiobooks but if I slowed down to 12-15 mph was fine

Very nice review. A couple of years ago you reviews the Lumos helmet with Court on EBR I own that helmet and love it for it’s safety. I get a lot of compliments from drivers on it’s visibility. Have there been any updates on the Lumos?I love the turn signal feature. Best to you and your staff for a Happy and safe Holiday Season.

Chris, I understood everything you said for the first 20 seconds, then you started speaking in tongues. I'm afraid I'm really not cut-out for all this modern technology, which, to be honest, is just another way of saying, I'm too thick to understand it‼️ That being said, I still loved the video, because your videos are things of beauty. The cinematography is nonpareil, your delivery is (seemingly) effortless, and the whole production has a smoothness and warmth which is gratifying. After I watch your videos, whether I've understood them or not, I feel relaxed and tranquil. Which, in my books, is a good thing.👍👍👍

Thank you very much for telling us about these helmets. I bought the M1 last year, and use it for commuting everywhere. It is great to have the integrated light for riding when it is dark. The phone connectivity is also fantastic for turn-by-turn navigation with Google maps; the voice prompts come through the helmet's speakers. I recently bought a second M1 to have as a spare.

@@pamelaleveton909 Unfortunately, none of my friends will allow me to implant a transceiver in their cortex, so I have not been able to try connecting my helmet to them… Seriously, though, I do not know anyone else who owns a Sena helmet, and my best riding friend is not interested in wearing my second helmet to conduct a comms test; sorry to not provide an assessment of this.

That's pretty cool, i was expecting the price to be much higher, but it is very reasonable. Of course, the main reason I get a helmet is to protect my noggin, so I just upgraded to a POC with their version of Mips/spin tech. I also use my apple airpod pro, using the transparent mode, but you are right that doesn't work for being on the phone or communicating with others as wind noise makes that impossible. I can see the appeal for those that ride with others and want to talk to them. Personally, I like to ride alone and talk to myself. LOL ;)

Thanks for the review. I've recently moved to the US and quickly discovered that people can't walk or even run without having someone to shout out - now they can do it on their bike as well . . . woopee! (I'm from Brexit Plague Island, so please excuse the sarcasm.)

Nice electronic features. But how does it fair for protecting the head? Seems the primary feature of a helmet should be protecting for head injuries. Is it certified for safety by any agency? Does it have MIPS or any similar protection?
@Propelbikes
@Propelbikes 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. All helmets in the US need to be certified with the Consumer Product Safety Commission in order to be sold on the market so for the most part the safety is the same. Some manufacturers have added tech like MIPS and other features to improve the side collision protection, but Sena hasn’t implemented this on their helmets.

Had R1 EVO pair, returned them. Buggy voice commands. Not all functions worked. Range is limited. These are not the quality of their motorcycle helmets. Did not like the button press commands. Press center button for 1 second, it does this; press center button 2 seconds, it does this; press center button 3 seconds and it does that. You get the idea. I dont want to count or second guess how it is counting my button presses. Ended up most times not doing what I wanted it to do.

Is there any quality difference between the R1 and R1 Evo in voice quality? Bluetooth HD vs EVO Mesh? Also on the EVO, I think once you put in mesh mode you can’t continue to listen to music unless you turn mesh on. Is that the same for the R1 intercom?
@senatechnologies
@senatechnologies 11 ай бұрын
Sound quality is the same. Yes you can keep listening to music when your Mesh is on. If you find the music volume goes down when you put your Mesh on, please make sure that the volume is up on your smartphone device. The volume setting there will be the upper limit for your helmet when the Mesh network feature is on.

I have one that I bought from Propel and it last for a long time. I usually have the lights on, paired to my phone and blasting music on it while riding for an hour or more. Even after 3 days, it was still going strong with no charging so I think it can last for almost a day of constant use which is a long right in itself.

Can riders who have the R1 communicate with others using the R1 Evo?

No, they use Bluetooth and Mesh intercom networks, respectively and exclusively. They do not communicate with eachother. That said, the R1 EVO still uses a Bluetooth connection to connect to smart phones.

The main difference is the style, and the fit is a bit different, so depending on the shape of your head, you MIGHT like one more than another, but most people find both very comfortable. Everything else is the same.

I have four Sena R1 Helmets and have never been able to connect all four helmets together via the Bluetooth intercom feature. I can easily connect 2 helmets or 3 helmets together but when I try to connect 4 helmets together via the group intercom feature I hear ‘intercom failed please try again’. I would love to see a comment from anyone who has actually connected four helmets together via the bluetooth intercom. I can connect a master helmet to my three other helmets but I can only talk to the other three one at a time. According to Sena, after this is accomplished you only need to press the -/+ buttons to start a four-way conversation but all hear is ‘intercom failed please try again’. Yes, I have contacted the Sena Help Organization and exchanged probably 10 emails but they have not helpful at all ….

We recently got the M1 helmet. We did Not want to connect them to our phones. We wanted direct intercom connect just between the 2 helmets. There are no instructions with the manual to do that. It only gives instructions for phone connection. Took a lot of research to discover how to connect them. Finally found how to on a motorcycle forum. Customer service is pretty much non existent. They need to include these instructions with these expensive helmets.
