Wow Thank you so much. I was about to send these helmets back. I could not get the app to work, so I searched on youtube to find a way to connect helmets without using the app. Found you and this video and now three helmets are connected and working great. Thanks again! New Sub. added.

thk u. that clears up some confusion. I don't like that you can't maintain your phone connection with 4 helmets connected together. That sucks. Wish I'd known that. Does the other Sena helmet versions have this limitation also? What happens if some helmets in a new group connection were previously connected in a different group of helmets prior? Is it necessary to erase the prior bluetooth connections in those helmets before they can successfully connect to a new different group? Ie is it ever necessary to go into the config menu of the helmet and initiate the bluetooth erase for this to get it to work reliably?

Can the R1 join a Sena +MESH?

Always be aware that only 4 devices can be connected. If anyones phone is connected then it counts as 1 and only 3 helmets can interconnect. If you are trying to connect 4 helmets you must turn all helmet-phone Bluetooth connections off

SENA helmets can only intercom pair with each other

Mine never connect the easy way and when doing the hard way it’s never all 4

I'm having the same problem. I hold the plus and minus and it doesn't start a group intercom. The hard way works but only for a total of 3 helmets. The first helmet paired falls off somehow. Any ideas what the problem is?

@@dathanneal3115 Mine does the exact same thing but we do manage to get it done by accident. If I ever figure out how exactly we get it done i´ll get back to you.

This demonstration has the numbers of the helmets all wrong. This video needs to be completely redone with someone who can count.

Randy Wentworth, When you are connecting to multiple helmets, the helmet you connect to first will actually be the last helmet in the SENA Connection Order. So we have 4 helmets, including the lead, and we want to make #1 the first helmet in the SENA connection order, so we had to connect to it LAST. That is why the helmets are ordered 1-3 in the video, but connected to in reverse order. Hope this cleared it up for you!

Why don’t you connect the helmets in order? When you are working on helmet #3 the written instructions says helmet #1. This video is confusing.

@@EriksBikeandBoardShop I think the "repeat for helmets 2 and 3" caption is wrong. Because you already paired for helmet 3. You do the pairing for lead and 3, then lead and 2, and then lead and 1. So then the repeat for" becomes "repeat for 2 and then 1" The first one paired is the three-button-press address. Very confusing, and I suspect you changed how you numbered them as you were filming the video. Nonetheless, much appreciated - your two-helmet R1 pairing was way easier than it seemed from Sena's documentation... 👍
