When plugging in a set of buds to the 3.5mm port on my sena 10s it deactivates the hardwired sena speakers. How do you eliminate the sena speakers? Do you just cut the wire? I can unclip the individual sena speakers but that still leaves a open end on the wire coming out of the sena base. Is this ok to leave the wire end open?

I bought a JVC wired over the ear headphones and ripped out the speakers therein and soldered it on to my Sena and they now sound phenomenal. Cost me $15 for the headphones & gave another $25 to the accessories shop guy to prep them up and solder them on. $40 in total & “voila” you have headphones with skull-crackin bass when juxtaposed to the original Sena crappy speakers. Basically speakers extracted from any reasonably good sounding headphones will sound 500% better than those feeble original Sena speakers. 😇😇😇

I’m glad that the solution works for you. We find out when you use a generic product does not stay in your ears and it does put undue pressure and sound and reduction is different every single time. That’s why we created a custom product but I’m very happy that you found a solution you just need to keep the sound down just a bit so you save your hearing for life.

I bought a pair of Sena ST1’s The problem I’m having is, I believe that because of the sound of my Harley Davidson being a bit loud, it’s always taking down the music and navigation, because it thinks passenger and I are talking to each other, so it’s constantly turning down the volume so we can talk, whether we are talking or not. At the stop light, it just quiet enough to turn it all back up again. We have brand new full face helmets also. How do I turn down the mic sensitivity? Or what can I do short of putting quiet mufflers on my bike?

I've ridden with custom ear plugs for years and have found the Sena 20s speakers to be too quiet. I wish that they were a little bit louder. I have tried custom earplugs with speakers built in, but I find them annoying having to put them in before putting the helmet on and the cord to the aux jack gets in my way. The whole point of the Sena was so that I didn't strangle myself with cords. By the way, I can hear vehicles around me probably better than most of the drivers in their cars.

@@EarPlugTV as I stated, I do wear earplugs regardless. Last year I ran into an interesting problem. I was on a trip for a week wearing some earplugs with speakers and, after a few days, I began having difficulties putting them in and eventually I had to pick up some foam earplugs. I don’t know if suddenly wearing them all of the time irritated my ears or if my ear canals had changed enough that they no longer fit properly anymore. The ear molds were done a few years ago. This year I’m trying the filtered earplugs, but I don’t like them. The ones that I have tried don’t seem to block enough noise (wind noise). I also discovered that the speaker pockets in helmets don’t align with my ears. I had to move the speakers forward by cutting up the cheek pads. Having the speakers over my ears makes a surprising difference. I suppose that I should have known that.

Hi, I’ve got the Sena 50S… my problem is that I can’t turn my volume down once it gets to the lowest point it shuts of the sound completely? I’ve turned down the iPhone volume and the Sena volume to its lowest point… but just I little too loud… please help any suggestion would be much appreciated 😀

Some thing that you can do is, if you’re using earbuds, you can add an in-line volume control that you can buy on RadioShack or on Amazon or eBay. It has a roller switch to control the volume and you can be able to turn the volume up and down and you can micromanage the volume control this way. This will take care of the situation for you.

my SENA prism camera does not record sound since new. It makes video but it does not have the sound of the video.. I have tried different SD cards, I have gone over the instruction manual, I have gone online looking for information about a possible settings change I need to make, I even did the download from their website to update my Camera. I still can make videos but I do not have any sound recorded on any of my videos. So I explained the situation online to the technical service department. about a week later I got a text from a technical service rep from the SENA service department named Chris. He had one question. “You mean your camera does not record sound? “ I responded, that is correct, my camera does not record sound whether I use the external microphone or the internal microphone. It has never recorded sound since new. Is there any thing I need to do in the settings to make the camera record sound? days later Chris responded. “You mean your camera has never recorded sound at all? “ I responded, that’s exactly what I said. I bought the camera knew, it records video, it has never recorded sound ever, I have tried both microphones, it doesn’t matter, it does not record sound with the video. Is there a change I need to make in settings to make the camera record sound? days later Chris responded, have you tried a new cable? I responded, no, but I only use the cable to charge the battery. I transfer the videos to my laptop by removing the SD card, and plugging it into my laptop. Is there a setting I need to change to make my camera record sound? days later, Chris responded, where did you buy your camera? I responded, I bought the camera brand new on eBay, is there a change I need to make an settings to make the camera record sound with video? days later Chris responded, when did you buy your camera? I went on my purchase history on eBay, And I sent Chris the message that I bought the camera on February 24, 2021 brand new on eBay, and I again requested information about any change I need to make in settings to make the camera record sound.. days later, Chris responded, do you have your receipt, what is the serial number of your camera? I responded by sending Chris a screenshot of my receipt from eBay, and I sent Chris photos of the serial number and the model number from the original package. I also asked for the contact information that would put me in touch with his supervisor I never heard from Chris or his supervisor again Meanwhile, I could sense that I was not going to get anywhere with the technical service department, so I went out and bought myself a GoPro camera. It came with a waterproof case, it takes the same microSD cards that I bought for my SENA, and, when I run the battery down on the GoPro, I can simply swap batteries to be ready to record within seconds. I doubt that the technical service department at GoPro could be worse than the SENA customer service department

Did you upgrade the firmware before you did anything else? That fixes 99% of the issues. (Might need original USB cable that came with Sena unit) Did you make sure the speakers were placed correctly?

The issue with using speakers in your helmet without hearing protection is you’re getting hearing damage and you have to turn the speakers up way too loud when you’re going highway speed ‘s. If you use an earplug with the speakers everything is muffled and it really sucks to hear through the air plug itself but many prefer this rather than having the large expense of solving the problem correctly.

Absolutely and if you use our custom BE-1Cs And plug it directly in the center you can hear it perfectly at 100 miles an hour in the direct wind.

Some senas do not allow you to integrate external speakers at all. Some people clip their speakers off and wire on a 3.5 mm Jack to plug our Big Ear’s in.

yes you can have them as hearing Protection and be able to hear your speakers through them as you’re riding your motorcycle down the road and then when you want to use the intercom it will come through bright clean and clear at a very low volume and you will be protecting your hearing all the while you are able to enjoy your intercom. Riding with the earplugs can be very dangerous, that's not a solution, plus it's not a speaker upgrade, it's a use of a different device. Speaker upgrade is when you are replacing the existing speakers with better ones.

+Hovak Alaverdyan Hovak, these are speakers and it’s an upgrade so it is actually hearing protection first and speakers down in your ears. You can actually hear these as when you’re riding in the win it’s more than 100 dB usually around 110 to 15 dB of outside when noise that you’re trying to hear a speaker through the wind in your ears. That’s creating much more hearing damage because you have to turn up the speakers loud as well as listening over the wind and road noise. So this is truly a upgrade and as a speaker upgrade as well because the clarity of this device Far exceeds the quality of a Chinese speaker put in your helmet. If you need more clarity just ask and we will get you the answers you are searching for.

Hovak Alaverdyan I’m not sure how to respond to your comment. It was very rude and very patronizing. We promote wearing the correct hearing protection while you ride so you can protect your hearing while having the ability to hear everything around you. We have sold hundreds of thousands of sets of our products and the feedback and response is very positive as a rider is able to still hear sirens horns whistles bells and other sounds you must hear while riding. I have ridden my entire life and I’ve used hearing protection with no issues. This is without a doubt a speaker upgrade because you are still listening to the same source. And if you are concerned about safety of your fellow rider, gutting their existing helmet speaker and cramming in an extremely loud speaker is highly dangerous and because of the wind noise that we riders face can cause more hearing loss.

I was talking about blocking the sound of the motorcycle, which can be dangerous, because when you are riding, you need to hear your engine,

Hovak Alaverdyan Thank you for responding without starting a war :) I agree completely that you do need to hear your bike. And this turns into splitting hair. I attend trade shows 200 days of the year and converse with riders from all backgrounds and what I’ve found is there are people who do want to hear their bike and those (Such as myself) Who have confidence in our riding ability enough to where we’re not concerned with hearing the bike. Save for odd sounds that you can hear with hearing protection in. However Past that it comes to preference. Some don’t care to hear anything and others do it’s why we understand and I say it in countless videos custom hearing protection is not for everyone. But for those who do want to hear more while riding we have our filtered hearing protection called “The One” That allows a rider to protect but not occlude their hearing while riding.

Ear Plug TV, As an airline pilot I can tell you we have the same issue with noise canceling headsets on the flightdeck. Some pilots will not wear them because they are so used to hearing the engines.

I’ve never had a problem with Sena being too loud you’re selling it lol my AirPods are louder than Sena. With a decent helmet wind noise isn’t that big of a deal and I wear the bell rouge and wind isn’t that big of an issue and that’s a 3/4 helmet. With a proper exhaust you can’t hear Sena even at low speeds tbh..

Just so I’m clear I do not sell the SENA, I’ve used the SENA and it was not loud enough for me on the bike. I sell the custom headphones that plug into or Bluetooth to the SENA. They have been repealing and not enforcing hearing protection as the court system does not want to be responsible for your hearing loss while you’re riding your motorcycle. So we have never found using hearing protection a problem whatsoever.
