Ogi1508 Easy to blame the DNC for playing favorites, but that wasn't all of it. There also was the superdelegates commitment that made him look like a lost cause early and often, and good old President-elect Drumpf stealing his thunder on occasion. CNN ignored Bernie in favor of Donald time and time again by considering Bernie to be a lost cause. Go right ahead and blame the DNC. But also blame everyone else responsible too.

What people mean when they say "Bernie Sanders is my President" is that they will follow his lead rather than Donald Trump's. I think that's completely acceptable and respectable. Don't make this about liberal vs. conservative - let's not forget that the majority of Republicans never really gave Obama the time of day during his eight years. Accepting the fact that Donald Trump won the election is one thing, but bowing down to whatever he says and not standing up when you disagree with him is totally another. Being able to have our own opinions and voice them is what makes us Americans by definition. Freedom is what this country was founded on. If you don't like that, you're literally anti-American. If the entire country were to submissively accept everything the Trump administration does, that would make us authoritarian in the classic textbook definition. I don't know if you've noticed, but lately it seems that's exactly what Donald Trump and his team want to turn America into.

@kongming668 жыл бұрын
+Tyson Williams Yet he isn't a socialist (no, it's not semantics) and he's pretty centrist on many issues, like gun control. Plus, Congress would have watered down his policies. Seriously, I can respect libertarianism, but American libertarians allow themselves to be no better than Republican lite. You don't want to be associated with the crazies, but you stick to the same old tired dogma that hasn't held up in the modern world. Dismissing someone like Sanders, a complex and dedicated politician with a proven track record of helping everybody, is a prime indicator that you haven't researched this beyond maybe some biased blog on a right-wing faux-news site. When you guys start moving away from those Reagan era talking points, you'll start becoming a real voting bloc and find a way to introduce policies towards an economically mobile state.

Because many of us believed that Bernie was far too left to get anything passed in Congress, or flat-out thought he was too far left. Typical conservative response to anything involving socialism or communism is "kill it, kill it", so we thought that he would encounter too much resistance in Congress. Free College, Free Healthcare, Higher Minimum Wage, etc? Republicans would have a conniption about all of these goodies being handed out, and as you can see, they kept their power in the legislative branch. So, Bernie would be in another stagnation war with Republicans, once again showing how blindly believing in idealism prevents you see from seeing the reality of politics, which is heavy partisanship and inability to get much done. Hillary was at least more moderate and, to some of us, more likely to be able to get her legislation passed. But apparently this election was all about anti-establishment and traditional politics played much less of a role. I think some of us incorrectly assumed that this would be a traditional election regardless of the way Trump tried to flip the system on its head. So yeah, maybe if we had thrown usual assumptions to the wind and voted for the ideal anti-establishment candidate, Bernie, then the election might have turned out differently. But this is why some people voted Hillary.

@MK-oz2lf8 жыл бұрын
You haven't realized of the momentum he had versus Shillary and how even Trump was afraid to debate him before the CA Primary. The DNC cheated him out that is the reason why you can say in hindsight "oh his plan wouldn't have worked". His model actually exists in other countries where they have a Social Democracy form of capitalism and it's been thriving since ww2. It has problems now because we created them by intervening in the middle east in the name of oil, causing people to refuge to other countries so suddenly.
@MK-oz2lf8 жыл бұрын
Arthur Oh now you deter from your original statement. Well, I give you credit for that. Best.
@vazeon8 жыл бұрын
The Electrocist those countries have always been shitty, and I understand that he was cheated our and it was dumb, but I'm conservative so I don't think his plan WOULD WORK. I don't know about you but if I go work for 8 hours a day, I don't want to be on the same level as someone that sits around all day, perfectly capable of working (not the people that physically or mentally cant). That just makes me angry.
@MK-oz2lf8 жыл бұрын
vazeon That's not how it would work. I suggest looking up Mondragon or Worker Cooperatives whether in Europe or even here in America. The reason you don't hear about them in America is because companies with a conventional capitalist enterprises are afraid of their competition and so they push policy to make it harder to start a worker cooperative. But wait, I thought it was all about letting the market do it's thing?.... I understand your concerns, which is why I commend your open mind attitude and suggest you search and compare how these enterprises function and result. I think Dr Richard Wolff is a good start here on KZbin. Best.
@oprex18 жыл бұрын
vazeon that's not how it works. If you don't have to job, you are forced to use your money to pay for essential stuff. Then the government gives you a money for necessities. They also have a ton of other things they're forced to do. While you, working 8 hours get to do whatever you want with the your money.

I am a white, middleclass man. At 44, with 3 small kids, I feel like my children will not have the opportunities I had growing up. Most of this is purely economic. The majority of my income goes towards the various insurance policies we have to carry. 41% of my take home pay goes towards medical, car and homeowners insurance. Medical is by far the fastest to increase and the most expensive. Even at this rate, we still have horrible coverage. Most of the medical care is out of pocket. Bernie seemed to get this. He appealed to a very diverse range of people. I enjoyed hearing him speak. I may have even voted for him. I do blame Obama and the democrats for the insurance debacle and I would never support a candidate that appeared to support it. It was not an easy pill to swallow but I threw my support behind Trump. Who knows what the outcome would have been if the DNC did not collude against Bernie. You ask me, they lost the election for themselves.
@juanaltredo29748 жыл бұрын
thats one of the rare cases where a trump supporter actually articulates his decision to vote for trump without sounding like a KKK member in the process, well done. Actually I now understand your decision and respect it
@flyingnorseman8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Juan. I think you would be shocked how many Trump supporters also voted for Obama in 08. Myself and many of my family/friends did. We believed in the change message. Its very upsetting when people label us as supposedly supporting the KKK. Im afraid the media plays up that fallacy to divide from within.
@hamerheads128 жыл бұрын
paul norris Thanks for your comment. I understand your need for change and why you felt Hillary wouldn't change a thing. Unfortunately, I don't think Trump will change anything either. Trump's cabinet appointments have been terrible. I hope that the people who voted for him do everything they can to keep him accountable.
@flyingnorseman8 жыл бұрын
***** Its funny you said that. I was discussing this pipeline issue in the Dakotas with the wife and found myself drifting into the negative mindset with Trump and my fears he will ram it through. I support the Native Americans rights to protect what is left of their lands. We also discussed the appointment of Gingrich and his promise to kill 2 regulations for every new one passed. I said it depends on the regulation and it worried me. All I want is the truth and for everyone to be dealt with equally/fairly and within the frameworks of our laws. Good luck and thanks.

Then the people of America need to stop watching the garbage that the media is putting out. It is in my opinion that the media, as a whole, plays a vital role in the dissemination of honest information. However, we, as viewers, have done a horrendous job in proving to the media what we care about. Do we care about facts, or do we care about the drama? The media, unfortunately, will ALWAYS create their programming based on where the money is. We share in this responsibility.

After hearing his ideas over and over again I think he certainly should be in South Park together with Al Gore hunting Manbearpig, that way his ideas will be in the right place.
