" ... slightly left-of-center ..." by European standards, 'cause the U.S. public (in general) see him as extreme left. Tells something about how Jon Stewart views democracy, especially U.S. "democracy".

Authenticity comes off as lunacy. I heard one lady try to discredit his authenticity acting as though he is just starting to say these kinds of things now that he's running for presidency, he's merely being a politician. When in reality you look at his past, civil rights marches in the 60's, he was a democratic socialist in the 80's, his message or ideas have been consistent.

***** don't forget that her top donors are the very same oil companies that she's promised repeatedly to people to get tough on. And of course she's been giving the Saudis special weapons contracts; of course people don't really care, especially young women who will vote just so they can get a woman into the whitehouse.
@wadeking4054

TheSympathize Most of her top donors are banks. The very ones that helped contribute to the 08 crash (Goldman-Sachs, Chase, etc). Most of the things people are saying against Bernie has nothing to do with his actual policies, but some strawmans of his arguments and past. For example, people are recently bashing him for thinking "consumer choice causes poverty," when in reality he was talking about how people care less about poverty than they should. They are also bashing him for thinking women like rape when he published an article about human sexuality decades ago. His article was actually meant to be a satire of human sexuality. People, especially the right, are scared of him, and only have strawmans in their arsenal.

Actually in 2007 he voted against immigration reform. And he wasn't advocating free college, marijuana legalization, nor 15 dollars an hour miminum wage untill running for president. In 2012 he strongly opposed Obama and wanted him out of office. In 2016 he loved Obama. He originally voted for the bail out and then opposed it when it was unpopular. And untill rescently he opposed Medicare for all. Now he supports it.

It's depressing how many people just dismissed Bernie due to misinformation, prejudice against Big Scary Socialism, or a misguided desire to "not have their tax dollars pay for things they don't use", when in reality many (possibly even most) of these people will at some point need the social security and/or health care, or their children will, and all of them evidently need better education.^^; Starting with learning rhetorical tricks like the straw man argument, the bad faith argument, and the like... and why one should in fact try not to use them. And then moving on to topics like demagogues and how they can completely ruin a country and its legal system. Don't give up, Bernie!

Of course, that narrative is still damaging, even if it was not borne out of malice, because it perpetuates the notion that the system will never change.

Except for the fact that he is not right that the only difference between Sanders and Clinton is image-building. He manages to give an impression of fake Hillary, but the policy-differences between them are huge. One takes Super-PAC money and gives speeches for 225.000 dollars a piece for Goldman-Sachs, while the other refuses special interest money and finances his campaign with small donations. One is for single-payer, free college tuition, bringing back Glass-Steagall restrictions of the financial industry, while Hillary is in the pockets of her wealthy donors. One is against fracking and nuclear power, the other was constantly adapting her positions to where the wind is blowing, exactly like how she suddenly starts speaking like Lindsey Graham when she goes to Dixieland. One was against the voting powers of the super-delegates, which is deeply hurtful to the democratic process.

Though I was peeved at Ralph Nader for only coming out during the election cycle. If he just made himself known earlier to have the time to gain more votes from people who may not have heard of him that would have been better. Granted, maybe Sanders could have done better also but at least I've been aware of him for years as the only Independent which I had been registered as myself. Besides, Kucinich was definitely the guy I waned to vote for, I didn't care which party he was under, his votes and his positions stood on their own.

@rosea1295

Check what the rules are in your state. They can vary quite a bit. But typically the answer is a firm no. There are states that hold open primaries where you can vote in any one primary you choose (democrat/republican), but the catch is that you can't vote in both. Most states have closed primaries in which you can only vote in a primary if you are affiliated with that party. This is to prevent people from voting for a candidate they favor in their party and then voting for a candidate they think has little chance of winning in their opponent's party.

The big difference between Jon Daily Show and Trevor's show: Jon said it like it is and believe in the democracy and was rooting for Bernie while Trevor is a sold out comedian who was pleasing the establishment like the other comedic talk show host.

It's also that Mr Trevor is also reliant on his green-card renewals! And hence, not that independent! Now, now.. Don't give me that Rule of Law crap as court-cases take years to finish, per single proceedings per Court and even then: A stay-order is not guaranteed. Nevermind if you don't work through a green-card BUT work-visa, where kangaroo-courts under Department of Homeland Security( 'course!) - completely distinct from standard Judicature of US legal-systems, operate. Without any point-of-appeal beyond the said federal department, as in.

mikeyman2010 It's hilarious to me. A few elections ago, Republicans at the time were in a tizzy because people were spouting "John McCain is too old and ugly, he's like a corpse!". Now those same people are doing the same exact thing to Bernie. The hypocrisy runs thick on Bullshit Mountain.

mikeyman2010 He is white and he is a man. One of the two current disadvantages for a democratic party candidate he could overcome, but not both two. Bernie would beat Trump, because he is what he says he is. HIllary is a robot and it doesn't take the terminator to beat her, just a human being. Looks like democrats have decided to lose with Hillary though.

Thanks for being civil haha. But yes, I think so. They perpetually referred to him as basically a crazy, old socialist. Furthermore, they refuse to televise any negative (read: factual) information on Hillary - and just harp day in and day out on Trump. Jon is the only one who ever gave Bernie the credit he deserved and reported Bernie's message in a positive light. I was confused for a long time why the three aforementioned hosts weren't being impartial, until I realized Clinton owns the networks on which these shows air.
