I lost my balance due to a stroke in November, I did go to a therapist for 6 months. Didn’t do any of these. I will try then in my kitchen with the counter. No problem standing, just walking. Thanks for the information. I sent the video to myself so I’ll always be able to find it.

VERY HELPFUL,THANK YOU. I was seeing a PT who led me to do exercise #1 over 3 sessions,with instructions to do at home. After 2 weeks of no improvement at home during his vacation,I was so discouraged,I never went back. 8 months on, I am no better but I never attempted these again. Your repeating it may take weeks or months is sad news, but encouraging--how can anything so simple take so long. I get almost no exercise, ( partly due to balance), so I take to heart what you said. I am about to start over after breakfast. Thank you. Heel to toe is very hard, but backing up or turning around quickly is the worst.

Tried all 3 exercises. # 1 was difficult, had to stretch my arms out as if walking on a tightrope. That’s what I do if I’m unsteady at home. # 2 was easy. Side-stepping. #3 was fairly good as well. Stepping-over. Momentum of walking helped. I intend to do this one frequently walking around the house. Also #2. Concentration will be on #1 Foot to Foot spaced slightly apart as suggested. Standing still in one place has been a problem for twenty years, need to have something or someone to stabilize myself or I start to tremble. Curbs without my walker, impossible. Stairs impossible without a railing, two preferably. Walking with a walker, at least a mile each day, no issues, legs are strong, momentum works but having to change direction presents a big problem.

Hello. I think these exercises can help you. I would be very careful about your momentum. That usually causes falls.

I had excruciating sciatica for 6-7 months in 2023. My doctor recommended pool therapy. After a month and a half of pool therapy, my sciatica went away and has not come back in over six months.

Just found your channel. I have history of multiple falls and going to PT but not practicing my balance at home. I want to change that. But right now in boot (fracture metatarsal) and brace (fracture in wrist). Any suggestion on what to do while in the boot to get ready for PT.

What does it do to different parts of the lower body to improve stability?
@neurolasticinstitute4246 ай бұрын
These three exercises work by improving your balance skill. Balance is not in your legs, it's mainly in your brain: the programs you have to walk, step over things, walk sideways, and navigate on uneven terrain. By practicing these three exercises, you can improve this programming making it easier to balance.
