Senna is able to use the mist, most likely because of when she was in Thresh's lantern. Slightly different than Viego's though, so evil looking but not evil power

Also because in Ruination they explain how Senna is tied to [spoiler] Viego's dead wife, Isolde, who killed him with his magic sword when Viego revived her, causing the First Ruination. Her soul exploded into bits that carried "Hollowed Mist", which her childhood Doll turned Waifu, Gwen, used to seal Viego. Another bit entered Senna when she was born, causing the Mist to hunt her in life and she met a few more shards in the Lantern

If people don‘t like that, they could just watch the trailer themselves, right? Lore wise she was captured in Treshs‘ lantern for quite some time and that changed her. As a senna main in LoL, let me give my interpretation for darkness and piercing darkness. The reason they gave her the darkness abilities is because her passive in LoL. In LoL, she can take mist (darkness) from enemies after hitting them with abilities or an auto attack. Runeterra probably thought it would be to similar to fury to grant her an +1/+0 buff for every kill. So instead the buff goes to the stacking (darkness). Piercing darkness is beyond perfect kill transfer from LoL to runeterra. In LoL, when she uses it on ally it heals them. On enemies it damages them. So they just combined it. This is just my interpretation for runeterra.

Lore summary: Senna and Lucian are Sentinels from Demacia. Light Sentinels are an organization from all around runeterra that basically fight the darkness. Senna and Lucian encountered Thresh and Senna was trapped in Thresh's lantern for some time. Lucian freed her but she came back with the ability to control the mist because of some connections with Viego's wife, something something ruination, etc and that's why she is in Shadow Isles in LoR. As for the connection with Veigar there is nothing that ties them in terms of lore, tho in League both have the ability to infinitely stack damage in different ways and I guess they translated that into the Darkness archetype for LoR.

If Darkness gets extra damage it would make less sense for the AoE not to be boosted since no boosters specify the primary "Deal 2 damage to a unit." A good example is something like Powder Kegs with Parrrley. Dealing 1+1xPK dame to a unit and then dealing that same damage to Nexus if it kills the unit. One's primary, the other effect is conditional, both are boosted.

Niche case I didn't see Mogwai or the comments mention: Both Senna and Watcher on the Isles proc when you slay ANY unit with a spell. So both of them will proc off of Glimpse (and Crumble can double proc Senna, but that's even more niche).

If Catalyzer and Veigar's damaging effect applies to Dess & Ada's 2 damage to everything effect, we effectively have better Corina for 8 mana. It would make sense that it applies, considering it specifically says that Darkness itself deals 2 to all enemies and costs 0.

Lore bit incoming: Senna was (and still is) originally a part of the sentinels, alongside her husband, Lucian (meaning that they were always fighting the monsters and ghosts from the black mist/Shadow Isles). During one "expedition", they came face to face with Thresh and he captured Senna's soul, and she was presumed dead. This "happened" around 6 years ago, when Lucian was released in League of Legends as a champion, and Senna was just a character related to his backstory (since she was kinda dead already). In 2020 Riot released a bunch of short stories about Lucian trying to find a way to bring her back, and lo and behold, he did it. He managed to bring her out of Thresh's lantern (and thus she was released as a Champion in League and now in LoR), but she spent so long there that she is now able to sort of "fuse" herself with the black mist without being consumed by it (its not that simple, I'm intentionally oversimplifying it). This is why she also interacts with darkness, though this is just a game mechanic that LoR decided to simplify in order to create synergy between her and Veigar/Bandle City. In the lore, its not actually the same type of magic. I will say that I'm a bit confused that she's a champion from the Shadow Isles though, since she's still very much from Demacia and not at all one of the bad guys, but oh well. Explanation for why lore wise it makes sense for Senna to use darkness as well: The follower Senna is before her death against Thresh. After she was killed and her soul taken by Thresh, Lucian as you know traveled across Runterra to free her soul from Thresh. He eventually did during one of his battle with Thresh but she came out different with powers that allow her to manipulate the mist to her degree.

The only connect I can think Veigar has to the shadows isles is his encounter with Mord which made him the way he is. Gameplay wise in LoL Senna and Veigar are pretty similar in the sense that they infinitely stack and get stronger the longer the game goes.

The reason she has a link with Darkness is cause Senna died by Thresh and was trapped inside his lantern for years, while containing a piece of Isolde's soul (Viego's botched attempt to revive his wife plus the follow up ruination scattered her soul into different things around the world), when Lucian manage to break her out of the lantern, the mist got drawn to her and basically made her into a being half alive and half dead in where she has some control over, being able to control the darkness, in her quest to save the spirits trapped in the mist through her light. In league she and Lucians Q spell is akin to that, with Lucians being Piercing light and Senna's being Piercing darkness

Senna was killed by Thresh and her soul was trapped in his lantern for quite a while, where she learned to use the mist (Same mist as Viego, but to a lesser extend). Eventually Lucian freed her and because of the time in the lantern she also has some shadowy powers, besides the sentinel stuff. One hint to the fact that Senna would be part of the Darkness archetype was that Veigar is actually not related in any way to "Darkness" or something like that, it makes sense why gameplaywise he does, but it feels a lot more like a Senna thing, coming from League.

The Reason why Darkness is also a mechanic fitting for Senna is because she and Veigar are champions that need to stack a certain resource in order to become a late game power house. Senna is a ADC marksman/ support that revolves around her passive which is collecting 'mist wraiths' that randomly drop from minions, jungle monsters and guaranteed from enemy champions/ large monsters. Senna is one of the strongest late game marksman because her stats grow the more she stacks. Her damage, range and critical chance increases the more she stacks and eventually converts all critical chance above 100% into life steal. She can stack infinitely increasing her damage potential into insane amounts. Veigar is a mage that relies on stacking his passive 'phenomenal evil' which is essentially extra bonus damage upon his ability power. He stacks mainly by killing minions with his Q ability 'baleful strike' and hitting abilities on enemy champions. That's why he needs to farm properly in order to become a late game power house. Essentially you're end goal as Veigar is blowing up enemy champions with your ultimate 'Primordial burst'. Which is basically a point click insane massive nuke of magic damage. Veigar is the only mage in the game that can reach insane ability power numbers. To give you a example a full build mage can reach approx. 1000-1100 ability power. Veigar can reach insane infinite amounts like 2500 AP more. So hopefully it gives you an insight why they both use Darkness as a mechanic. I think that Riot really want to build around the stacking mechanic that they are known and feared for in League. In the early game you need to play controlled and farm properly to set yourself up more for success. Turning into late game power houses. Kinda reflects back how they supposedly need to be played in LoR. They are really doing an amazing job reflecting their League of Legends persona in LoR. As they did with most champions!

After she escaped she was still sort of effected by the "shadow isles magic" or whatever you wanna call it, which is why her eyes glow green now, she now uses her power to fight evil with the sentinels. this is a simplified version there's more to it but this is the basics

Lorewise, Senna was trapped in the lantern and once she escaped, she still had black mist cling to her, and is now able to control the black mist and use it to her advantage. In League of Legends, several of her abilities utilise mist, such as the ability to root enemies with it, or transform her and allies into mist wraiths

Senna as a Champion was Post-Lantern from Thresh. Senna as a follower was Pre-Lantern from Thresh. Post-Lantern Senna has fragments of Viego's Wife and that's why she can control the mist as well. That's also why Viego goes around hunting Senna for fragments of her wife to revive her. There is an animation from League called Senna: Shadow’s Embrace, where Lucian saves Senna from the Lantern.

So now it’s Go Hard, Go Fast. I love how Senna and Veigar are both still kind of flexible in terms of deckbuilding. BC increases darkness damage and SI generates more darkness. Senna synergizes with slow spells like in Targon and Shurima, while Veigar is truly a dual region champion (choosing damage or more darkness generation) and can choose another second region, if he’s not going BC/SI

Just puttin this out there, Dess and Ada combos with Ixtali Sentinel (both their effects refer to the next darkness played this round). So, if you have Senna on the board as well, you essentially have a 0 mana fast speed spell that does 4 damage to all enemies, an extra 2 to one specific one, and 2 to the enemy nexus (now imagine if you also had Veigar amping up the damage).

Thresh killed Senna and slurped her soul down into his lantern where she was presumably tormented for years until Lucian squared up and freed her from the lantern. After her experience, however, Senna was changed by the dark magic of the black mist, and came to understand its true nature, likely as a result of her symbiotic relationship with a piece of the soul of Isolde, Viego's dead wife. In short, Senna is good and uses the mist to free tormented souls and oppose Viego. The reason she's a shadow isles champ here is because she was effectively 'reborn' after her experience in the Shadow Isles and Thresh's lantern.

The love of Lucian met during his beginning of the sentinels of light Went on mission to shadow isles Thresh captures and and puts senna soul into his lantern Presumably years later (no time is actually given from what i remember) Lucian and thresh are fighting and senna breaks free but just like veigar (in the way during mordekaisers torment) she is partially corrupted by the mist causing her to be at one with the most but using her new founded power with the powers of the sentinels of light. Bringing us to our current standing of king viego now harrowing runeterra until he finds a way to revive his wife or he is stopped whichever comes first. This all ties in nicely with the bandle wood because bandle wood isn't a "physical" place of runeterra there kind of on a different dimension atleast from what I have kind of placed together. Ie the portals used to teleport between the lands

So many crazy ideas with Senna. She enables winters breath to be a 7 mana board freeze at fast speed along with fast avalanches for level up. Control bilge water gets fast parley, boom ship and knockemdown. Could potentially go into dreadway finishers with darkness onto face and atrocity.

This Senna makes sense because she was killed by Thresh in Shadow Isles. Her soul was tortured by Thresh for a long time and then she escaped Thresh's lantern with the help of Lucian. I might be a bit wrong with the lore here, but a summary on why Senna can use darkness and stuff. She was a Demacian sentinel, but Thresh killed her in the Shadow Isles and trapped her soul in the lantern. Lucian became a sentinel to keep fighting the black mist to honor Senna´s purpose in life. Eventually, Lucian fought Thresh, and was able to "save" her soul from the lantern. But she´s still dead, or more like half alive half dead. So she can use the dark powers of a Shadow Isles spectre, but can also use light powers from when she was a sentinel. Also, Senna´s soul has a fraction of Viego´s dead wife, and basically the ritual Viego did to try to revive his wife caused the ruination. So that and being trapped in Thresh´s lantern for so long basically gave Senna powers to control the black mist. Now Senna is still fighting the black mist together with Lucian and all the sentinels of light. That´s why she´s listed as a Shadow Isles champion with darkness powers. The thing about making slow spells fast might be related to her light powers. The Senna follower from Demacia we have is basically Senna when she was alive.

The reason why Senna is from the Shadow Isle is because in the lore she was from the "Blessed Isles" which later was corrupted and became the Shadow Isle. So there ya go

There was a picture by riot on their channel or at the end of some video (i can't recall where exactly) of all 4 champions revealed so far coming out of a bandlewood portal, senna was amongst them. That's how people knew

I think lore wise, Senna works with darkness because she's sort of a duality between life and death, since she was brought back to life through the power of the mists but had some power within her that allowed her to control the mist and not become like, say, Kalista, or Hecarim, or Thresh, or basically anyone on the shadow isles. So its more to link that duality than Veigar and Senna having an in lore connection (don't think she talks to any yordle except for one who's planned to be a champion in league but isn't yet)

Senna with Lux is gonna be a thing. Fast speed Final Sparks will be nice. Don't ultimately think that Lux will see the *light* of day in the meta, but one could hope.

Senna most likely works with darkness not due to her lore since her and viegar have nothing to do with each other but her LoL version can stack infinitely (same with viegar) which i suppose translates to them being kind of a stacking duo in LoR :) TLDR: senna and viegar in LoL both stack so they stack together in LoR
