MAN!!!! This is a hard kick to get down!! But I’m understanding the breakdown that y’all gave me! And I have gotten way better than where I was. I just got to get it in my head that jumping and landing on the same leg is ok. Cause I’m scared that I mite broke something and that’s keeping me from jumping higher to do the kick. But I’m keep at it until I get this kick perfect!!! Thanks Masters!!!

But Master Wright repeated its "not that difficult" but Seth whose been train I ng a couple months can't quite perfect it. So is Wright dissing Seth? It's actually the best instruction from David, that I've seen yet, however I always taught you must return immediately to same location or fighting stance and flailing you leg out plus being out of balance in finishing kind of makes it mostly unusable

Love or hate tkd, these guys are super flexible and light on their feet which can become a huge advantage in a real life situation. I currently take BJJ and did some kickboxing for a year prior and stretching is not something that is mandatory rather than suggested in these schools(during your own time). If it weren't for tkd in my younger days, I would be much less rounded martial artist.

@@SenseiSeth nice point man. It is like in hardcore mountain biking also(downhill and dirtjump) wherein if you believe you can not do a certain routine for the first time in your mind, it is the moment that you lost. You never lean back for the 540. You get indreacingly more confident and lift your knee more powerfully, causing a slight lean naturally. Start on one leg, skipping a 360, then add the turn. Combine the two movements. Then lift your legs. Wear socks to slide on your foot so your knee supporting muscles tire slower. Hight-wise you need a little bit more than a scissor kick, spin wise you need a spinning hook into jump 360 turn kick, anyone can do this. Do not be fooled, it is technique all the way.

So to make it simple for everyone 540 hook kick are of 2 types 1) linear one in which you spin with your kicking leg bent and kick with it. What you see in this video. This kick can't be used for triple target. 2) which involves a 540 roundhouse kick motion. So you do a 540 roundhouse kick motion from non kicking leg and after that before landing you hook kick with other leg. This is the kick which is used for 3 target. 2nd kick is very difficult to Learn but the first one helps in understanding the motion and clearing technique.

Sheesh, where were you when we learned this the first time! My old instructor had us already in the air by the time our ankles crossed on that first step, and it took me weeks to figure out how to untangle my feet in time to get the kick off and have my feet hit the ground before my ass did. (I cheated and just kept my insteps together, but that meant under-rotating and making it into a diagonal-downward hook kick. The board broke, but the examiner was clearly not pleased)

There seems to be this split at some point between karate and TKD as you advance. Karate keeps things more practical for self defense, TKD gets more flashy for style points.
