Yes, all sorts of classic Volvos with the red block OHV and OHC engines. It was cars like those that gave the company the solid reputation they continue to enjoy.

What a glorious machine this is. 😍 I rather like the wood trim contrasting against the dashboard and door cards.

Yes, it is a very nice car, even better than Mr Coleman's previous 960. I don't like the droopy door handles on the inside, and I would prefer a beige leather interior, but apart from that....

An amazing car! One of the best motors I’ve ever driven - a former boss had a brand new one - I’d look for any excuse to borrow it. The engine was superb, lusty, flexible, but very smooth. For a large estate car it handled really well - you could really hustle it along. Sport mode on the automatic ‘box made it very swift. It also had a wonderful, comfortable and well built interior. I have looked at buying one as a daily driver, but I think they’ll be difficult to source parts for, and rather thirsty!
@lloydvehicleconsulting3 күн бұрын
Yes, not the most economical car, but parts availability seems reasonable OK, considering how rare they are. The engine is one of the best things about these, along with the handling.

It does make a lovely sound, sir. Takes me back to my P1 v70...plastics not the best in those and were greatly improved in the p2s.
@lloydvehicleconsulting24 күн бұрын
The P2 cars did probably have better quality plastics, but these are still quite good. The straight six white blocks do make a fantastic noise!

Someone just down the road from me has one of these as a stable mate for his mk3 firebird. Both looked lovely and as H.G. Wells Martians did with earth, I regard them with envious eyes.

I'd imagine parts availability would be an issue. I just scrapped off my 2005 S80 D5 SE Lux manual (saloon) because I needed an automatic due to a disability, and also many parts had to be sourced direct from Volvo in Sweden. In fact I never did get a replacement for the in-car entertainment system (HU850) despite searching extensively through dealerships, eBay and even an email direct to Volvo in Gothenburg. I'm sad at letting it go because it was quiet, comfortable and economical (something which the replacement definitely isn't).
@lloydvehicleconsulting3 күн бұрын
Well, I drove a Mark I S80 earlier this year. It was very comfortable indeed. I don't think things like the radio exist new any more, sadly... A placement unit would have to come from somewhere like Ebay secondhand, I imagine. Parts availability on this one seems OK as far as I understand it.

A passenger airbag was optional on the 900 Series. It was also on the 850 and S/V70.
@lloydvehicleconsulting2 күн бұрын
I don't think that I have ever seen one of these with the passenger airbag, so it must have been a very rare option.
